I am new and just found this Oregon board, I am from Salem

Wow, I have been going to this site for a couple of weeks and just realized that there is a forum for Oregon.  I am so excited!  Who is from Salem or close?  I would love to have some people who have had the same experiences that I have to talk to.  I am so excited!

Really, how is everything going for you?  Is that doctor here in Salem?  Did you have it at Salem Hospital?

Everything is going great for me.  I had a few rough spots about 6 weeks in when I had to have two endoscopies to stretch but since then have been doing wonderfully.  I am down 97lbs and I am stuck right now....trying to reach those last three lbs to make it to 100lbs!  I had my surgery at Legacy Good Sam and Dr. Jan is one of the surgeon's from Oregon Weightloss Surgery.  He is very good.  I haven't been able to make it up to portland for support groups either so I haunt these message boards and I take support with my fellow stateworkers who have had the surgery too.  Welcome, Again!

I, too, am from Salem and was very happy to find this website. Plus having an Oregon forum was icing on the cake.
I am going to OHSU's information seminar next week. Hoping to have surgery soon.
Went to the Salem Bariatric Weight Loss seminar and found it to be very helpful and the people wonderful. Unfortunately, the hospital takes my insurance, but the doctor does not.

I had my surgery at OHSU by Dr. Deveny Oct. 2005.  I love it up there, but their support group is too far for me to get to.  It is so inconvenient.  Hopefully you will get approved, and get everything done as plannned.  It has been the best thing in my life!  We should get together sometime.  I have often thought of starting a support group here for those that cannot travel that far.  You will be so happy when you have your surgery. I would love to help start a support group here in Salem for OHSU patients or patient wannabes (like me). I know there are many of us here who would love to talk to others who have had surgery there and what to expect.
It is great to hear that you had such a positive experience at OHSU. It makes it much easier for me since I have had very few good experiences with doctors over the years.
