Had my appts today at the digestive health center.  Susan was super cool and Shannon was amazing.  I made my appt with a cardiologist on April 16th and have my sleep study scheduled April 25th.  I was told that they absolutely will NOT operate on me if I need a Cpap machine and don't use it.  I am pretty sure I will need one. I snore like a buzz saw :(  Now I need a psych test so hopefully I will get a call back to get that scheduled.  Susan told me that she thinks I will have surgery in July possibly.  I am hoping for sooner, but probably not gonna happen. Oh well I know it will be worth it whenever I do get it! Thanks again for the continued support!!

Hey Angela - I also liked Susan and Shannon.  For me, I had a lot of trouble trying to get in to have a psych evaluation.  All the Psychs at OHSU were so booked up, that I called my insurance and found that I could have an eval done by any psych, as long as they were at a Center of Excellence (at least that's what my insurance required).  I called around and got a quick appointment with a guy over in Bend.  It cost me some time and some gas money, but really sped up the process for me.  Just wanted to throw that out as an option if you find it's holding you up.  One of the things I really love about OHSU is, when I went back for my 3-month appointment, I asked to see Shannon again, just to be sure we were on the same page, and it was great meeting with her and getting questions answered again.  They are very supportive. The psych evaluation was by far the longest hold up on the tests required to get in. Start working on that first. I agree that going out of town sped up the timeline to the appointment date. I went to Corvallis to see my psych. She was off the list given by OHSU. I didnt love her but have never loved any psychologist so I might just have an aversion! The report takes for ever to get in! Say stay on top of it. Mine finally got in two weeks ago (According to OHSU-but who knows whose fault it was!!!) As I type this I had an idea though-It might be wise to go with the OHSU psychologist. That way your report goes into the system and bypasses the paperwork pile-up mess. The appointment wait (2 months) is far better than waiting for the paperwork to get in and processed (4 months for me)!

I liked both Susan and Shannon too! I had lots of problems with my first cardiologist, so got a second opinion from a more superior one and was able to get the needed cardiac clearance with no problems. I have had two sleep studies and four appts with the sleep medicine clinic, with the fifth one due in about three months.  I now have a CPAP machine and have been compliant every night, except the first night, since I got it over two weeks ago.  My NP at the clinic said it was OK that I was struggling with it at first.  She works very closely with Susan, and the former did tell me that the surgeon will NOT operate on me either if I am not compliant with the machine.  I am to bring in the CPAP machine when I go to the hospital so that the hospital can verify my compliance with the machine and see my settings and use my settings for their own machine as I recover from surgery. Right now, I am waiting for the clinic to contact me with a surgery date.  Hope it won't be in May or the first three weeks of June. Best of luck!
