SEROMA, my middle name. Had my last (of six) drain out yesterday and now they have a hazmat site to deal with. The night before the incision opened spontaneously and drained a bunch of dreck on the other side. What a mess! Now I am free......no drains (just pads) And, now the fun begins as we wait to see whether I will fill up and need to be pumped out. I feel like a septic system...yuk, yuk, yuk. I have to say, the relief  was immediate. Of course, the dilaudid didn't hurt, either. tee

What a way to get our attention! I agree that it was a real nasty mess! Glad to see that your drains are gone and you're feeling relief!

Oh dear!  I hope I don't have this to look forward to.  I can already see some plastics in my future. Linda

You will be so glad when you are wearing that bathing suit in Hawaii.  Your going back right?!?  Our bodies hate foreign bodies and always want them OUT - stitches, tubes, etc.  It always feels so much better!  I hope things dry out and it all heals up soon. Patty

No Hawaii soon as we bought a newer motorhome and PS costs...... I had a seroma last time around and they pumped over a gallon out on New Years Eve 2006. Today, they manually drained out almost a litre. I can breathe! I can eat! I am hoping to get a good night's sleep. See you tomorrow? tee

My kid's home for break and we are having a family thing tomorrow so I can't make it.  Wish I could though - I think the invite is so nice.  I always meant to do that and will this summer when I buy my house (I hope!).  It always feels good to get a bunch of junk outa where it shouldn't be!  Glad to hear you are moving on to being done with this step. Update: After weeks of draing an yuck, the incision came open even more, and spreading. Deep wound, packing, silvadene, and the go round. Finally after a lot of advocacy and persistence, I have been on a wound VAC for a few days now, after debriding. Drugs that barely touch the pain of my guts being sucked out, Can barely move at times. Debridement is the most painful of things. Look it up if you wish to be totally grossed out. Of course the description of my totally rasty mood and inability to rub two brain cells together will probably not be noted. I'm tired and frustrated with the pain, the drugs, the lack of activity and no lovin' of the basic kind. I swing from homicidal to suicidal within minutes, so call before yuo visit! Better yet, wait until I can make a modicum of sense. The nausea is the other bugaboo. Let this be over soon, please. tee
