salem support group
I live in Salem, and had my surgery at OHSU. When I had the surgery there was no local support group, you had to go all the way to Portland. I was wondering if we have any that have been started in Salem yet? If not is there anyone who is interested in starting one, or wants to get together? I am going crazy doing this on my own.
Salem Hospital does have a support group. Here is the link:

There is another support group on the bottom of that page.
Hope this helps!

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
I live in Keizer and had WLS about 6 weeks ago and would love to find a support group around here. I went to the link and it looked like it was for people who had the sugery at the Salem hospital. I had mine in Bogota, Columbia. I would be very interested in just chatting with someone local about everything.

I would really like to get together with you. It would be great to know someone close. I think the one at Salelm Hospital is only for patients from there, so we would have to check that out, but I know that everyone who has not had one at the local hospital, but lives in the area should have one to attend if they want. What type of WLS did you have? I am thinking of starting a group at my church in South Salem, but I live off Lancaster. So, maybe we should chat together about our triumphs! LOL Claudia
Claudia, I would love to meet up with someone local as well. My email address is [email protected]. I am new to the area and don't really know anyone so I am up for starting a group or just doing something informal. I live just off the Salem Parkway.

There is a group that meets at the Salem hospital 1st & 3rd Wednesday's of every month in the basement of the hospital, room D. Meeting time is 6:30-8:30 or until we are done. This is NOT the Salem hospital group where you have had to have your surgery there. I had mine at OHSU as well. Fun group, stop by.
