Hi all!! I am new to this board and currently trying to find a job that provides insurance that covers this surgery.  I have a few interviews this week so wish me luck..  I the meanwhile i am looking to start attending a support group of some kind.  I want to learn and listen and i also am trying to decide which surgery will be best for me I am thinking gastric bypass but i want to make the best decision.  I am thinking i will see Dr Tersigne in coos bay even though i live in Redmond.  I like that he is the safest in the state.  I guess my 2nd choice would be Dr. Koning in Bend since he is close.  Again though i dont mind the 4 hour drive if it means a safer surgery.  Anyway  I am looking forward to attending a support group to learn and grow and recieve input on.  If anyone wants to chare that would be great!!  Thanks in advance Christina

Hi Christina,  I live in Seaside and my insurance didn't cover my surgery but I had Dr Tersigne and my experience was wonderful.. I had the lapband done and it has worked well for me so therefore I am a happy camper.. But I drove 200 miles for surgery and it wasn't to bad. Anyway good luck on your journey Robin

HI Christina - there aren't many local support groups in Oregon.  Some is starting one up in the Albany/Corvallis area, and we're starting one here in Eugene.  Is there one at the St. Charles Med Center over there in Bend?  I know they are approved as a Center of Excellence for surgery in Oregon, so it seems as though they must have a support group.  Some places do limit their groups to their patients only, which is sort of sad, but I'd give them a call and see if you're allowed to attend.
