Feeling somewhat better
Well, it's Monday and I went to work for the first time in nearly 5 months! Starting 1/2 days. The extreme pain and swelling I had last week has subsided, but I still ooze more than normal from the feeding tube port. I haven't been on pain pills for 2 days, and as of this morning the swelling was all gone. I took an ice pack to work with me and wore inside my waistband. But even with trying to sit still, it still was aggravated a bit so it's a bit sore tonight.
I see my dr. next week, and I'm going to press the issue of my treatment with him. He can't be the only one with power at that clinic to get people appointments.
I honestly think this whole thing was irritated or infected, and my body just responded by ballooning up and that is what caused the pain. I think the oozing is from the swelling. I swear, I should be a dr.
So we will see what shakes out. I'm just happy to be out of the pain and able to wear pants again!
Oh Kim! I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better. And going back to work is GREAT!
I would really press the issue with Dr. D. OHSU has great surgeons and the fact that their support staff can be rude and insensitive is just not good. From surgery schedulers who have told people that their paperwork would be processed faster if they would quit calling to people who don't know the research team is right around the corner from the front desk, to staff who won't schedule appointments when people need them -- it's becoming a disaster. I've pretty much always been well cared-for there, but your experience makes me upset.

Kim, glad to see that you're back to work and you're feeling better now! Bet the partners and staff were happy to see you back too!
Hopefully, the situation with the office staff will be resolved during your appt with Dr. D.
I have an appt with a psychologist at the clinic in a couple of weeks.
