Klamath Falls
Hello my fellow Oregonians. Congrats to all of you who took charge of your life and to those who are looking into taking charge. I had the VSG done in Mexico on 5/14/2007 by Dr. Alvarez. All I can say about him is WOW! He is an awesome caring compaasionate Dr. He is very personable and truly cares about his patients. I'd like to hear from others who are journying to a healthier life. I have gone from 330lbs to 228. My pants were a 46, now a 36 , my high blood pressure is gone, my diabetes is gone. No more meds for me!!!!
Congratulations Larry! You are doing fantastic! Everyone loves Dr. Alvarez on the VSG board. I've never heard a negative thing about him! I will be getting sleeved on April 17th with Dr. Oh in Federal Way, WA. It's nice to see another VSGer in Oregon! I went to college down in K. Falls and I swore I would never go back. Ok - one good thing about K. Falls, I met my husband there.
Congratulations to you Larry. It's also great to hear that there are wonderful doctors in Mexico. I can't imagine having to self-pay, but since I'm nearing retirement, I will most likely have to do that for plastics, which my droopy tummy says will be necessary.

Hey Larry. Saw you at the support meeting last night (didn't meet you but you were one of the three there that has had the VSG surgery, how I knew it was someone I saw there). Never realized there were more Klamath Falls folks on the boards.
Congrats on your surgery and success beating those terrible health problems, Yeah!
I've been on the lap-band message board a lot over the past year, but it's time to start looking around, there are a lot of great message boards and I forgot all about the Oregon board! Yahoo!
Hi there!
i am near Klamath Falls and am very interested in hearing more about your visit to mexico for your surgery. What was the cost of the RNY? I am looking to pay cash and want to find the best doctor for the best deal. How big of ordeal was going there for it? What was the recovery time and how long out of work? I am looking at the same weight and problems that you have. High blood pressure, diabetes, and sleeping problems and am so ready to change my life. I have been looking into this for about 3 years and am ready now. Thank you, Shawna
Hi Shawna,
I didnt have the RNY done. I had the VSG done. My Dr. here in Klamath told me to absolutley do not do teh RNY. So I researched and and came up with the VSG. I went through Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras and he is AWESOME! I had surgery 5/14/07 and was back to work on 5/22/07. Recovery was easy and to this day I feel fantastic. As for cost, I paid 10K and its worth every penny. I would suggest that you go to Dr. A's website at www.endobariatric.cm and research to see if this is for you. If you have any more questions, you can write me anytime. I would love to share...Good luck in what ever you decide.
