OH Support Group Starting Soon.
Hi Oregonians,
I wanted to post an up-date to the support group that will be forming in the near future. I am currently training to be an OH support group leader. I first applied to OH to be a leader, then I took the first two trainings last week. The third training will be on the 19th. Then the group will be starting a couple of weeks later. I am still trying to find a location, I want to be able to meet twice a month, and have the space available as the group grows. Everyone will be welcome to attend, just like on these boards. Hopefully we will have the support of local hospitals, we will be partnering with them, to support everyone. I want to be sure the meeting does not conflict with any of their meetings. So I guess I am still researching the best night and location.
I do know the meeting will be on a week night.
I do know the meeting will be in the Albany/Corvallis Area.
I am excited to work with OH, they provide on going training and support for all of the support group leaders. If you have any other questions or suggestions feel free to post them here.
Thank You,
Christina
How does one go about getting the training for this? It seems it would be nice to have several throughout the state, so people don't have to travel an hour or two to go to a meeting. Especially with the number of patients in the Eugene/Springfield and Portland areas, it would be great if there could be meetings in each of those locations.

Both my husband and I have had wls (RNY) by Dr. Read in Corvallis. We now live in Newport and cannot attend Dr. Read's support group meetings because they are held on Saturdays and that's a work day for my hubby.
If your meetings are held T-W-TH evenings, we would be able to attend. That would be wonderful. I, for one, could use a support group.

I saw someone else ask about the training to be an OH Support Group Leader. I, too am interested in how one goes about getting that training. It would be nice to have a group in our area as I know there are quite a few folks here that have had wls. Barring that, we'd love to attend the group you're starting.
