Hi all.  I haven't posted much lately.  I have been home recouping from surgery and just didn't feel much like sitting at the computer, if you know what I mean. I do have some concerns though, and was hoping someone had experienced the same.  After drinking my protein shakes I get the worst burps and gas pain.  I sip them slowly and don't use a straw.  Is it normal for a while to get get the burps?  Also, it sounds like a have a growling bear in my esophagus, lol.  Lower back pain.  It won't go away.  Just a consistent ache.  Anyone else have this after surgery and know the why? On a good note.  I stepped on the scale this morning and in the week since surgery it says I've lost 19.5 lbs!  Just amazing to me

Nola - congratulations on joining us losers!  Yes, I frequently got the burps -- even with sipping slowly.  Now I get them if I eat too fast.  I have to excuse myself, go outside and belch like a drunken sailor for about 5 minutes.  I sometimes will get the hiccups if I eat too fast also.  I had lower back pain after surgery, but I had three blown discs and had been put in a bed that inflated to turn coma patients in the hospital by mistake.  Ouch!  Sounds like you're doing well on the weight loss.  I hope the pain subsides soon. Yes, Yes, Yes!!! My surgeon wanted me to take pepcid daily to help with the indegestion. I also get it still now if I eat too fast, or don't chew properly. It happened tonight, and I am just starting to feel a lttle better. UGH!!! Oh well, I remember feeling very nauseated and gassy when i was an early pre-op. Good Luck, and yes try not to blend the shakes if you can, it was too much air in them for me too!! Christina
