Did your insurance pay? If, so where do you work?

Since I have found no way to raise the money on my own and my current insurance wont cover WLS I am now considering switching jobs to one that offers insurance coverage for this.  So, for those of you who were able to get their insurance to pay for it....where do you work.....I need to get a job there! I'm really not kidding :) I am willing to switch jobs to get my health back on track! Thanks!

I noticed that the State of Washington employees are covered for WLS thru several insurance companies.  Might want to check into that.

You also should look into the insurance forum here.  I believe (at least at one point) Starbucks, Home Depot and one of the cell phone companies (T--Mobile or Verizon or something) ALL offered WLS as a benefit -- even if you were a part time employee provided that you get enough work hours to qualify.  A part time job would get you some extra $$ to help with your copays, too. Good luck! Lori

You can ask your surgeons office- the billing person will know. But State of Oregon is very liberal I hear. You can check their job positings on line. I googled it at "state of oregon jobs". Good Luck. jennifer

I work for the State of Oregon (Higher Ed) -- we have Blue Cross/Blue Shield and WLS is covered if you meet some very strict requirements and you have the surgery done at a Center of Excellence. Linda

Did you find and insurance co to that covers the surgery. There are a lot of them that don't that is for sure. I was told that if your employers health ins doesn't cover it to talk with them about having it added on there company plan. Most companies don't know that it is available to them. Did you check the Ins. Forum. It is part of the website here and it talks about what people have gone thru and who offers the surgery on on there ins and who doesn't. that was really helpful. I'm a self pay and there is no way I can afford 22,000 for this surgery. Yes it would be awesome. It isn't like you can go to an employer or and interview and ask what ins comp they offer and then say sorry can't take the job, becse you don't offer what I need! !

AccuTel Inc. in Eugene covered my WLS at 100% and was very easy to get approved!  If you can stand working in a call center, its a great way to get the surgery covered.  I believe they still hire through Adecco temp agency. I've since left the company, but looking for somewhere that I can get the reconstructive surgery done.. anybody???
