I made my 5% weight loss goal today and did a scan for my gallbladder....the paperwork is off to the insurance and I have a tenative date of March 5th. They wanted me to go in February but it really doesn't work out well with my schedule for work and all.

I am excited and tired....but still waiting for my daughter to give birth so I have other things on my mind too.

Awesome Deb, March 5th will be here before you know it. What a busy month you have ahead of you. Remember we are here for you if you need to chat, ask ???? or just vent. I know things can be somewhat emotional those last few weeks before surgery. LOL I thought I would lose a few marbles waiting for my re-birth day to arrive. (By the way my re-birthday is 3/7/07) I am a 07 Marcher, and you will be an 08 Marcher. In case you didn't know there is a message board for the month you are having your surgery. I enjoyed posting in there over the last year because we are all going through everything together, an can share our experiences together. Makes it fun to compare notes with others. So if you haven't done it yet check out the page for your surgery date. TTFN, Christina

Christina- that is a great suggestion, thanks.

Also I just found out that another poster I know is having hers that day- same place and everything! So it will be cool to have someone I know in there at the same time. Although, I am thinking before hand I will be sooo nervous and afterwards we will be out of it and on pain meds....maybe we could walk the halls together...I guess we will find out!

Thanks for your response!!

You're on your way!  March will certainly be here before you realize.  Me, I hate the monthly boards since I was banded.  I'm still losing 2+ years out and many people who had RNY or DS have already had plastics...  Those monthly boards are the bane of the bandster existence... Good luck on your journey! Lori

Thanks Lori!

I have heard banding is slower. But if you are still losing and it is working for you that is what matters. I am still shocked about how much of this is a mental battle. I did really great losing the weight I needed for surgery and then yesterday I ate too much. I knew it, it wasn't that great, yet I did it anyway. Then afterwards I felt so sick. Like my body is happier when I don't over eat. I am trying to not be too hard on my self and just get back on track today (yeah- there's a super bowl party with lots of food). I think this whole WLS or any way we try to keep our weight down is a process. And most of us don't seem to be very patient. (counting myself here).

Take care and best of luck to you in the process!

Thanks for the support.  It is a huge mental battle.  You don't realize how much food really means to you until its gone. As far as slow loss, my loss is really exceptionally slow.  Its because of a bunch of other medical issues, though, so it isn't the band's "fault" and it proves that I really didn't overeat before I had the band.  Still, I have no regrets.  Its also why I tell people to research.  In my case I was thrilled (and personally considered the band a success) when I stopped GAINING weight.  The heck with losing, lol...

Good for you for losing that 5%! That is SO hard to do, and you should be very proud of yourself! Congratulations on getting a tentative date-keep us posted!

March 5th is good with you.  Go with whatever works with your schedule. May your daughter have a safe and successful delivery! Best of luck on your safe and successful surgery and recovery!
