I am so cold all the time I can't imagine going swimming in the winter time.  I need to start working out again, I just get so depressed in the winter time.  I know that I feel so much better when I do work out though.  That is great that you got to go and enjoyed it. Beverly

Elk Hunting! I have had the most incredable month of elk hunting. I was lucky enough to get a cow tag in a draw this year so I had a month to bag my elk,, Now although I did not sugceed in shooting a elk I did find out that I am stronger, tougher and have more endurince that I ever thougt I could be. I have hunted for years but deer hunting and elk hunting in the past has been with the use of a truck to get to the top of the mountian but this year the gates were closed and I had to get there by foot. I did it every weekend from 7 to 12 or 3 depending on the day. I am so proud of myslef it was not easy by any means and lugging a 10 lb riffle and back pack didnt help but I set the pace and did great. I think I will take up hiking I enjoyed it so much

I to feel to cold to think of swimming. I've been putting on alot of clothes and walking outside or recently I've been doing an hour on the treadmill while watching Oprah. I also joined to gym to try and get some weight training in. Lets all keep it up.:junp:

I see you live in Eugene and joined the gym.  Which gym did you join?  I belong to Golds....

Hi Board, I thought I would share what I have been up to. I decided I wanted to exercise a little more seriously after I worked out during Winter break at a gym at our hotel. I enjoyed using a treadmill. I had never tried it before and I was challenged and excited that I could actuallt walk for 1/2 hour straight. That is pretty darn good considering I was in a wheel chair most of the time last winter before my surgery. I could barely walk from the car to a pre-determined place to sit whenever I went somewhere. If I wasn't sure there would be somewhere for me to sit immediately, I either had to bring my huge wheelchair or I wouldn't attempt to go. I was dependent on other pushing me around to go almost anywhere, unless there was a electric cart available.(You get the idea)  Anyhow................ I am going to try out a gym I checked out last week. My assignment was to interview the gyms in my area, and not join. (This assignment was decided by myself and my therapist.) I loved feeling in control, and not pressured into joining something.(anyone who has had this happen knows what I am talking about.) The gym I have decided upon has offered me a 30 day free, yes I said free, trial membership. so I will call the manager/personal trainer tomorrow to set up an appointment t get started. I have a month to try things out and see how it goes. Plus she has worked with other WLS patients in the past, so this is a total bonus. I am excited to get started on this next phase of my journey.  Thanks for letting me share, this thread was right up my alley. Christina

Deanna, that is just SO great! Working out should make the gloomy weather more tolerable. Thanks for inspiring me-I need to get moving, too!
