I know that protein is vital to maintain you hair and I also think iron but I am not certain on that.  Have you tried increasing your protein?  I know that sometimes even with the increase in protein and iron it doesn't help but the only solice I know is that all the doctors say that it will stop around 6 months or so and then it grows back.  I am sorry you are dealing with this and I hope that it gets better soon! Take Biotin...I get mine at GNC.  I also cut my hair short when it began to fall out, so I would be able to be even more gentle with washing and brushing.  Remember all of your protein! It began to fall out like clockwork at 4 months (I think this is the MAGIC number) and it has almost completely stopped now!  The weight loss was worth every hair I lost though!! Good Luck.

I hear ya!  Not only does it fall out a lot, but after I blow dry my hair, it's on the walls, floor, and ceiling of my bathroom!  I routinely wipe everything down at least once a week to get all the hair.  It's a wonder there's any left in my head.  I also have heard that biotin is really good.  Make sure that your vitamin has it. Hi I can totally relate! i started losing mine around the same time but I was shocked, I thought it didn't start until @ 6 months out. Mine has stopped falling out like crazy I am at 10 1/2 months. I am hoping it is actually coming back in. I had to cut mine too! It was long, actually one of the only things I liked about my physical appearance pre-op. So I was sad to see it go. But my new smaller body is definately worth ever little hair I lost. I think it helped me try a new shorter style, I was stuck in a rut. I always wore a pony tail, how attractive is that?  Other than just wait it out, I don't have much advice. Sorry, Christina

A few people in my support group use a shampoo and conditioner called "Nioxxin".There are a couple different places to get it, but I only remember they said the beauty supply stores and hair salons sell it. The clerk will probably know more about it. They say it works and you can also start using it before it even starts to fall out  in the first place. I've also heard people talking about Biotin and protein. I wonder if anyone really knows for certain what works, but it seems trying to get vital nutrients (and probably protien) would be impotant for strong, healthy hair. I have never heard of this before, but I would ask my doctor about pre-natal vitamins. Just a thought-- Also, I would take this oppurtunity to wear all those winter hats I got for Xmas presents. LOL Good Luck with everything. ~~***Heather

I just looked at your new picture-you look SO gorgeous! Wow! I also had hairloss at 4 months out. I figure I lost 1/2 my hair, although nobody else seemed to notice. It was very stressful and I know how you feel! It completely stopped at about 7 months out for me. I made sure I was getting 80g of protein a day, and added a chewable zinc supplement twice a day-I've heard that can help. Now, my hair is filling in again and looking much better. Good luck-this is temporary!

I had some hair loss with my first surgery and it started at about 3 months out.  Nothing hugely noticable, but I would clean out my brush more often.  After my second surgery, revision 7 weeks ago, I'm already starting to lose my hair again.  But I was severely malnourished, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.  My hair falls on the bathroom floor, rolls around into clumps and finds its way to the carpet where it looks like my chocolate lab has shed.  But we don't let him in our room so I know it's my hair! I took Biotin the first time, and I think that helped.  It sure seemed to make hair and nails grow elsewhere.  I haven't started taking any this time.  I think I'm just going to let it run its course.

I too am 4mo out! THANK YOU for asking this question!! My hair is coming out in double handfuls. It is crazy. I am amazed I don't have big bald spots somewhere on my head. Thank god I had a lot of hair to start with but if this rate of loss continues I am afraid I will be bald soon. Seriously. It's like 2 tennisball size clumps of hair that falls out with each shower, plus all the here-n-there hairs that just fall out. Please let me know if you find anything that works sista

I've noticed that they have Nioxin products at Supercuts (where I get my fancy haircuts! ).  I might give them a try.  Not only is my hair thinning, it's so limp, it just hangs there.  Not very attractive at all. Linda
