I've finally gotten a surgery date through Kaier - January 30th!  At Sunnyside Kaiser with Dr. Leger.  At first I was just stunned - it's been a VERY long process of hoops as many of you know.  But now I am starting to get excited. Would love some advice.....

How Awesome!!  I'm happy for you.  I know all about the hoops, I jumped through them myself and have a surgery date of Jan. 31 with Dr. Jay Jan.  You will beat me by one day    Best of luck to you.

Congrats, singermom! I understand that Kaiser has lots of hurdles to jump over, but you made it to the last leg! Best of luck on your safe and successful surgery and recovery! What kind of advice would you like?

what suprised you the most?  What were you least prepared for?  What do you wish someone had told you about this process?  How did you react differently than others on the board?

Congratulations! Exciting times ahead for you.  Be prepared for some wild emotions.  The last couple weeks before surgery i was all over the map with my feelings.  Keep your eye on the goal and try not to let any thoughts of failure or doubt cloud your judgement on making your decision to go forward with this.   A tip that might be handy would be to be sure to bring chapstick with you.  If your lips get dry, you will be thankful you have that.  Oh, eyedrops too.  I didn't even think of that this last time I had surgery, and when I woke up it felt like I had sand in my eyes..  It took hours for them to get me some saline drops from the pharmacy. Good luck! And congratulations on your date.

HI,  My best advice is ask ????'s Ask away..... Anything you want to know, just ask. The chat room is a great place to go also. I went there almost daily when I was getting close to my surgery date. They are usually wonderful about answering the questions of people about to have surgery. When you log in include the date of your surgery in your screen name, so others will know its close. Example: Singer 1/30/08. When the day finally comes for your surgery try to focus on all of the positive things and try to relax.  I wish you the best. It is totally worth it!!! Christina

Congrats on getting a date.  My advice?  Take measurements and pictures (as revealing as YOU are willing to keep of yourself and others you are willing to show others).  And enjoy the emotional roller coaster ride! Lori
