Please reminisce about the first mushie you ate after your completed the liquid stage of your post  op diet.  What did you pick. I get to have my first mushies on Christmas day, and am having a hard time deciding?  Any ideas? Thanks!

It was scrambled eggs at lunch and then the broth from homemade chicken and dumplins!  On Christmas day.. mashed potatoes and gravy probably would go well.  I don't particularly like them but people love yams.. that would probably be okay mushed well. Enjoy!  It will probably never taste better :) Tara

GingerbreadBrandon,  how about some sugar free pudding, yogurt---I like dannon lite and fit carb control vanilla,  there is also ricotta cheese,  and already mentioned mashed potatoes and gravy.  I remember really enjoying the mashed potatoes but I am not a gravy person. You can add flavoring such as vanilla, almond etc. to the ricotta with a little sweetener  and it tastes really good---almost dessert like.  Some jello, sugar free, of course with  cool whip tooReindeerEnjoy.  Julia

Thanks Julia!  Maybe adding some pizza flavored tomato sauce to the ricotta cheese?  Think it would taste like lasgne?  I have been able to have yogurt already.  They gave me some of that the morning I was released from the hospital.  You are so incredibly close to your goal!  Maybe you can make it by New Years.  Wouldn't that be a great way to begin the New Year!

I had Rosarita No Fat Refried Beans with some cheese melted on them.  I can still remember the taste.  It was sooooo good after just having liquidy stuff.  What a nice Christmas present you get to have.  Soft boiled egg is good too. Linda

My first "mushie" was mashed potatoe salad.  Oh, it was so tasty.  I actually loved my ricotta cheese made like this: 1/2 cup ricotta cheese 1 packet splenda 1 teasp. Vanilla 1/2 cup frozen strawberries (or peaches or any frozen fruit without seeds) 1/4 cup milk Blend the above in the blender and eat with a spoon I ate a lot of that, because I had an ulcer, and I couldn't eat a lot of spicy or high acid foods.  As the ulcer healed, I would often add orange or pineapple juice instead of the milk...I also often added my protien powder to that recipe. Like Julia, I love lasagna without the noodles - and I also blended my spaghetti sauce and enjoyed that with a little added parmasean cheese.   This was my first Christmas post op.  Do you know what my favorite food was?  Carrot sticks, Cucumbers and green peppers!  I kept thinking, "this is nuts - I have all this food in front of me, and I am eating veggies?  What the heck is wrong with me?"   Now, I did taste some fudge, a bite of apple and a bite of pumpkin pie and one of my favorite cookies - but I was totally disappointed in the taste of them...plus, I didn't like the huge "hot flash" that followed those little bits of food tastes!  UGH - I don't like that at all!   I hope you found something that you were glad you ate!
