Sleep apnea and the cpap

Hi Nola, I know how you feel. The day I picked up my CPAP I cried, sad that my weight had gotten to that point. I felt so unsexy wearing that mask at night and felt pretty hopeless. But, let me tell you, within 2 days I was loving my machine. I couldn't believe how much better I felt-lots more energy, no more morning headaches, and much more positive-feeling. It was SO worth it! Just wait-if you can get used to the mask, you will love it. But the best thing is, after losing 60 lbs I didn't need it any more! So, just see this as something temporary that you need. I agree that the nasal pillows are good-but, my air pressure had to be set too high to be able use them, so the mask that worked for me was the Fisher-Paykel Flexifit. You are allowed to return masks until you get the right one, so make sure the one you have is working for you. The success of the CPAP depends on the fit of your mask, and when you try them on in the office, it's not the same as lying down and using it at home, so don't be discouraged if you have to try different ones out until you get the best one for you.
