In limbo hell again-can I give up?
Kim,
I am SO sorry to hear this. It really seems like you are getting a bum deal from all sides. You have every right to be angry and frustrated.
YOU ARE WORTH EVERY EFFORT IN THIS FIGHT!!!!
I would be calling the doctor office everyday and letting them know again and again (if that's what is necessary****il they do something. I would also ask to speak to the Dr. again and tell him exactly how you feel and what you have been through.
I have heard from EVERYONE that he is an outstanding surgeon so I don't know what to tell you about that but I know it sucks.
Please let us know if you need anything from us here.. we are all here for you.
Also, can you talk to your HR about short and or long term disability? I am not sure about your employer but where I work they will let someone stay on medical leave for up to a year. Their specific job is not insured when they return but some job is. Make sure you have all the medical documentation from your PCP if necessary and keep your employer informed.
Please keep us posted and please take care of yourself. This seems overwhelming but YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! If anyone can... YOU CAN!!!!
Tara
I can talk to HR, but I'd be talking to myself. LOL! I am HR. My employer seems fine so far. I just don't know how they will react to continued delays. And it could get worse depending on what the insurance outcome is. I am just praying for the best. Trying not to worry about things out of my control, and staying on top of what I can. It's hard and sometimes I feel like giving up. I know I won't, but I feel like it.
Good thing I have a good therapist. And I see her on Wednesday...
ok girl went back and read your profile to get caught up. Wow you really have had quite a year. my advice is just slow own, take one day at a time and stop and breath.
I think you have every right to be upset and you need to tell the Dr how you feel but the energy you are using being so mad will just burn more calories :) ( hmmm maybe I should try that ) :) I sure have slowed down on the weigh loss.
Remember things will work out they always do. I am not saying dont be proactive but just slow down and take it one day at a time.
Hey lets make time to get breakfast with the gang thats what you need a group of crazy friends to pester you

Oh Kim! First, no -- you cannot give up! I am pissed at Deveney that he didn't get that surgery set up right. If you do end up having a proximal RNY, don't worry to much about the diet. I assume Deveney does things the same way as O'Rourke. You will most likely have liquids for one day in the hospital. Go home on custard, protein shakes and pureed soups for one week, then soft foods. They don't put you through endless torture and, in your state, you certainly can't afford to be on such a restricted diet for long. They just make sure your stomach can heal for a week then basically set you free for whatever you can put in there that is soft and comfortable. Call every day!! Tara (the scheduler) is a bit of a grump, but damn it -- this is just not right! Be prepared for Shannon (nutritionist) she is a bit ditzy, but I think she basically knows her stuff.

Ok, this is the third time i've tried to post and hopefully this time it doesn't cut me off and erase what I've done!
Kim, I am so sorry that you are going through this. I can only imagine what you are going through and for me that is scary enough. I sincerely hope that this gets taken care of soon for your sake. I know that you have said your FMLA will run out before January but does your employer have OFLA? When FMLA runs out for us, we go into OFLA and then we are required to pay for insurance but we can keep our jobs. I know it's just more money to pay out and it is frustrating. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
OMG Kim, I can't believe what is happening! No wonder you're furious-I would be, too! I honestly don't know what to say, except that I am thinking about you and I am so sorry you're going through this. Feel free to rant away as much as necessary and know that we're all cheering you on. Take care, Lisa
