Hi Susan,
I just got on the site this morning, haven't been on to much cause I'm just working on getting back to feeling strong after my RNY about 2 weeks ago.
I love this site . As you can see how many people care and reach out to you. You can write me also anytime. I live in Eugene area , a long ways ago but writting is good also. I'm 61 yr. old and decided it was time for me to take care of myself after all these years and went for it. I think I'm doing pretty good. I'm not the fastest of loosers but have lost 14 lbs since surgery and my pants are getting loose, YA. You will have ALOT of support any time you have questions or are down just pop on line. Good luck with your surgery and go for it. Carol

Welcome back, Carol! I'm glad to find someone else in my age group. I joined recently and have been following your progress. Is the recovery harder for us over 40's? Or does it depend alot in what kind of shape you are in?

Hi Patty,
Thanks for the welcome back. I can only speak for myself but right now I'm wondering if my Dr. did the surgery. The stitches are there and my appitite is alot smaller but I feel pretty normal and at a little over 2 weeks out had alot of energy today and yesterday. A girl who is 10 years younger who had hers done a week after mine said to me, where do you get the energy. I think I'm doing even better than her strength wise and recovery wise. My Dr. said at my first appointment that he felt I'm doing even better than the norm. So see we people in our 60's can do this too, so you go for it and get a life back and of course your health. Then you go for it, what is stopping you? Check out the Dr.s and who your insurance covers and who you have confidence in and don't let anymore excuses stand in your way. You sound like your feed up with your life so go ahead without looking back. Good luck Carol

Susan, This is too funny!  I just moved to Oregon from California in May 2007.  I am in the same boat as you, as I also work from home.  It really limits being able to meet people.  My big outting is going to the gym.  It is hard to even meet people there, as everyone is so focused.

Feel free to drop me a line.  I would love to make a new friend: [email protected] Denaire

Hello, I live in Otis, Near Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast.  I'm about 2 hours away from you and I would love to be a pal.  My surgery is scheduled for 11/30 and I am very anxious, nervous, and excited.  I can tell you that I had everything done within 2 months, so my surgery date happened soon.  I went to my orientation and was told what I needed to do and I made all my apts and did everything even if it was before they told me when to do it.  I have waited 4 years to have the surgery and I am not going to wait for someone that sits behind a desk to tell me to have the psyc. eval done  or the sleep center done ect.  So if you want it done soon, jump on the train and do it all on your own so when you meet susan the first time it is all done.  Please, if you want a positive person on your pal list you can add me.

~Jeannie~
