I am 17 months post-op and finally hit onederland two days ago! It has been a rough few months because my back went bad in April and my weight has been at a stand still since then. Then plop, off went 11 pounds in two weeks and finally I am in onederland. I am so excited. Now cross your fingers that the docs can stabilize my back so I can get back to exercising and reach my goal.

Hello Vicki,  I am going to have dr deveney as well.  I am done fighting with all the tests and everything has been approved.  My surgery date is November 30, 2007.  I am sure yours is coming up soon.  Maybe we will pass by each other while in the hospital.  It took me a total of 4 months to get where I am.  I am up for any ideas you have for the diet and I will share any I know, if you like. Congratulations on finishing all your tests, getting approval, and your surgery date, Jeannie! Actually, I still need to have my sleep study, psychological evaluation, insurance authorization, WLS scheduled, and consult with Dr. D. before I can have surgery.  My surgery will occur sometime during the first quarter of 2008, possibly in February or March. My next appointment at OHSU will be in January 2008, unless I see my PCP before then.  My arm is showing possible signs of scarring, so I may have to see her to confirm that.  I don't expect to go to either campus in the meantime. What kind of surgery will you be having?

Vicki, I am having the gastric bypass, or at least I hope that is what they do.  I am sorry you have so much to do yet, but it will be done soon enough.  When I decided this is what I wanted to do and went to the seminar, I got right on it and started getting all my apt scheduled on my own.  I din't wait for anything.  That way I could have everything ready for them.  But the endoscopy and the sleep study had been done already so my list was shorter.  Any way good luck and please keep me updated, I woul love to hear from you. Congratulations!  I got there on Friday and I am so happy!  I also understand the back stuff.  I have three bad discs in my back.  Two bulging - one ruptured.  The L5/S1 disc space is nearly down to bone on bone and the squished out disc is pressing on my sciatic nerve.  I've got a big bottle of percocet and I'm in physical therapy, trying to avoid surgery.
