Do folks in Oregon ever meet?

I am new to this board....but are there ever meetings set up so we can meet each other in person??

A bunch of us from the Eugene ( and even as far as Canyonville I think!) met in Springfield earlier this month. We were pre ops & post ops of all types of surgeries and shared clothing swap- good hi protein snacks and really had a nice time!   We'll post here when another one comes up and I have seen several Portland area get togethers listed here in the past.

Hi there, I know this has nothing to do with meetings but we share the same doc and I was wondering if he had you go on a liquid protien diet just prior to the surgery??  I am scared to death of failing.

Hi! I had Duodenal switch surgery by Dr. Deveny....I didn't have any special diet pre-surgery.

You copy the link( or gobbledygook letters & symbols) after it's configured then paste it into the User Settings area.

We try to do the Eugene/Spfld (and surrounding areas which usually includes most of the state ) one once a month.  We don't always make it.  It is so good to meet other though, and share lots of good tips.  I learn so much at these meetings and it's wonderful to see how much folks change at each one! I was at the get-together in Springfield earlier this month, although I am in the Portland area.  Afterwards, I stopped by my uncle's house in Eugene to see him.  Turned out to be the last time I would see him alive, as he died at sun-up the next day.  I was glad to have had the chance to talk to him before he left the Earth. We had a breakfast get-together at an Elmer's restaurant in Portland nearly 3 weeks ago.  People from the Portland area and SW Washington showed up.  We had a great time! Info for get-togethers in the Portland and Eugene areas is posted on this forum a couple of weeks or so in advance.  Watch this forum for our future get-togethers! Hope to meet you at one of our get-togethers!

Hi there, I noticed we are having the same surgeon. I still dont have a date but I go see him on Monday, 1st visit with him besides the seminar he gave. I know that theres the support groups once a month and I think a couple people from these boards go to that. I will hopefully make the next on. I don't know anyone in person that has had or going to have this surgery so it will be nice to meet some people face to face, although I am really shy. Take care Michelle

I will keep checking this board and see what meetings are coming up. And Michelle I did go to the support meeting last month- don't be shy just say hi!

I was hoping to go this month and I have all my paperwork yet but they called me and said I wasn't supposed to go to the support group until I had paid the program fee. So I have everything in and am waiting for them to schedule an appt so I can pay. But I think it helps to hear from folks who have had the surgery (it is inspiring and helps calm fears) and it is nice to meet other preops- to know others are in the same boat. And after I am post op - I really think the getting together will really help me stay on the program.
