Hi all, I just saw Brenda and her family tonight, I took them some dinner.  Brenda is doing a little better, it seems as though she takes  baby steps at this point, but as long as she is still moving forward we are happy.  Her lungs a clearring up a bit more, and they have once again reduced the sedation drugs, she is starting to wake up a bit but has not opened her eyes yet this time.  She is on dialysis, but hopefully only temporarily till her kidneys are back up to normal ( that is the goal).  Her family was very pleased with her progress the last 2 days or so.  She had a completely stable night last night which was great.  She is still in extreme critical and in the ICU, The docs hope to move her to a step down unit( progressive  care unit ), once she is fully awake and stable. i will update again when I hear more news, thank you all for being so supportive, I, and I know Brenda appreciate all your care and concerns, and Prayers. Thank You I had a minor set back also last week, and was wonderring if anyone else had this happen: I apperntly developed a  seroma at my incision site which got infected and had to be opened up and drained, now I have a good size whole in my beely that they are leaving open, I have to PACK it with gauze and do a dressing change 2x/day. ( I had open RNY)  Anyone else have anything like this???? love amy

Oh my Amy!  I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with that infection, and all of us depending on you for word of Brenda.  I have not had that problem, but have had a few friends who had it.  Hopefully, with the meds and the packing, it will get smaller and smaller until it totally heals. I'm glad to hear Brenda is improving.  I hope she wakes up soon and gets to breathing on her own.  It's such an awful thing that this happened to her, but I pray she makes a full recovery.  We all take the risk, and you never know when something like this will happen. Baby steps are good steps.  At least she is moving forward.  I'm happy to hear her lungs are clearing up some.  I hope she keeps up the progress. I'm sorry to hear about your seroma.  I have heard of that, but never had one or seen one.  I hope it heals well. Thank you so much for keeping us up to date.

Amy, thank you so much for the update! You are dealing with so much yourself, and it is so kind of you to keep us posted on Brenda. She has a lot of people praying for her, and I'm glad she's taking some baby steps. That's good news.  Seromas sound like they are fairly common-even Carnie Wilson had one! It's a pain, but not the worst complication that could happen. I had Lap RNY, and one of my incisions opened up but didn't get infected, and I had a very deep hole for a few weeks that my surgeon eventually had to sew shut again. The scar is more noticeable than the others, but it's not too bad. Take good care of yourself and get as much rest as possible while you're recovering. Take care, Lisa

Hi Amy,
I'm so sorry your having some problems. My half brother had that happen to him but they got it under control and he is getting better. He lost 150lb and is very happy inspite of that problem.
I'm sooooooooooooo glad there is some improvement with Brenda and hope it keeps moving forward. Carolee

Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your infection.  I never had any problems with my surgery, thankfully.  At least you were on top of things to be aware and see the doctor.

Thank you so much for the update on Brenda.  I think about her quite often.  It sounds like it is going to be a long road for her, but she is a fighter.  She will beat this set back. Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers! Denaire

Hi Amykins, So sorry to hear about your wound infection. Please take care of yourself, listen to your body, don't try to do too much. You are still healing on the inside too, only you can't see that part!!!  Thanks for keeping everyone updated on Brenda. I look forward to you posting more good news!!! I will continue to pray for her recovery. I appreciate you relaying our concerns and thoughts to her family. Hopefully next time I come to check for an update there will be more good news!!! Thank You
