Hi Caroleeg, Glad you are home and doing well!!!! Just wanted to share I had the bruises too!!! I also had a leak from one of my incisions. The intern had to stich it up better in the middle of the night. She did a pretty good job too, I might add. I think part of the bruising is from them moving around inside there. I bruised around all of my incisions, this is where the instruments are entering your body, then they move them around to perform your surgery. Mine looked pretty big and colorful. I took a picture of my tummy too. I don't remeber where it is or I'd post it. One of these days when I find it I will have to add it to my profile. Tee Hee! Take Good Care of yourself!  Take sips, sips, sips don't get dehydrated. Christina

Hi Carolee, welcome home! I'm so happy to hear you're doing well. Take it easy and get plenty of fluids. Sorry I don't have any insights into the bruising, but I just wanted to say Hi. Take care! Lisa

Welcome home Carolee! I had an open hysterectomy years ago and did experience a little bruising around the incision, but it was not so bad.  The bruising was caused by the trauma of the surgery.  It should go away in about a month or two.  My incision was closed with staples but those were replaced by steri-strips the day of my discharge.  My steri-strips were removed about a week later. Take it easy, get plenty of rest, and remember to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk.
