Hi Everyone it's me, I'm home

I got home this afternoon. Thank-you all for your prayers and answering Lisa's posting, that was so nice.\
All went well .I'm doing pretty good but a bit weak and a litlle nauseated, but up and around. Having a HARD time getting all the fluid in.
I do have a question. Did anyone have alot of brusing around the staples? I have ALOT and did have a problem with one of my incisions leaking a whole bunch of blood in the hospital. It even scared the aid. I felt something warm in the bathroom and looked down to find pools of blood on the floor and me. It happened again in bed and they caught it the next time. But my stomach is really black and blue? A girl that had it the same day showed me hers and she was as clear as can be with nice clean staples???? Well better close I took some pain meds and I'm getting dizzy. Thanks Again. Caroleeg

Welcome hope Carolee.  I bruised around my staples.  I had been given a heparin injection before and after while in the hospital and continued at home for about 3 weeks.  This is to prevent blood clots.  Some surgeons do that before and maybe at the hospital and then not afterwards but mine continued.  It causes you to bruise easily.  Go rest and take care.  It gets easy each day.  Julia

Caroleeg, Glad to hear you are home and all is well. Yep, I had bruising too.  Some were more black and blue, some just yellow/green.  But I didn't have any bleeding except a little thin line at ea*****ision under the tape stuff over them. Just relax on the whole eating and drinking for a few days.  Sip sip sip, but don't even dream about getting your 64 oz in right away.  Just get in what you can and keep working up a little more each day.  Listen to your Nut. and surgeon and you will be fine.  Just don't let yourself get dehydrated! Carol, So glad to hear that everything went well. My aunt who also had this surgery had the EXACT SAME thing happen to her.  She got up to brush her teeth, everything was fine, turned around to get her contacts and then blood everywhere.   It was the same incision leaking and it happened another time in the hospital also.  I do not believe that it happened at home though so I hope that is also the case with you.  My aunt also had HORRIBLE bruising.  Not sure if it is related but I do hear it is normal.  Her bruising was hundreds times worse than mine... I would just relax and sip,sip,sip and sip some more!!!! Congrats and welcome to the losers bench!!

Good to hear you're home! Yep I had an open surgery and I had some pretty nasty bruises.

Welcome home Carolee!  I'm glad you are on the loser's bench and on your way to a full recovery.  I'm sure your bruising will be nothing to worry about.

Welcome Home!!!  I agree, don't worry about the bruising.  In this case it is not because anyone beat you up or twisted your incision skin...!!    ..it's just blood that ran under the skin!!  My mom used to get really bruised on top of her hand where they would put a needle and if the nurse didn't hold the cotton ball on it for a minute after taking the needle out, her vein would bleed under her skin and the whole top of her hand was purple.  Your on the losers bench now...!!!  :> Brenda

Hi Carolee.  Welcome home!  I didn't have staples, but I did have a very, very bruised stomach.  I even took pictures, it was so bruised.  It took a long time to go away too.  I'm glad you're home. Linda
