Brenda's update

Sorry It has taken me so long to post, I am still a fresh post -op too and trying to recover. My hubby has now gone back to work so I am trying to "do it all " by myself now, which has kept me very busy and EXHAUSTED. Brenda has taken a few steps forward and few back, she Does have some urine output which is really good, but they still need to do dialysis for her but hopefully only temporarily, they did let her wake up a bit and she did respond well by opening her eyes when her brother talked to her, but they had to sedate her again and make her sleep, becasue now she has pneumonia and they don't want her coughing to hard, she is breathing a little on her own , the ventilator is at half, and she does some on top of that  but not 100%, they will keep the ventilator at half for awhile becasue her lungs are so tight with the pneumonia.  She is still in extreme critical condition and in the ICU at Kaiser Sunnyside and the sickest person in the hospital, Her family is at her bedside, at least 2 people 24hrs/day.  She is showing signs of progression but she is not out of the woods, and still needs are constant prayers, thank you all for your support and prayers, again I am so sorry I took so long to respond. A group of us Kaiser pre-ops and post-ops have been sending dinner's up to the family every night, I am going up Monday with dinner, if any of you would like to send me a note I will give it to the family for Brenda, I will update again if I hear anything new or on Tuesday morning which ever is first.  It really is just a waitting game right now, But please keep up the prayers. love and hugs amy

Amy, thanks so much for the update.  We were all thinking the worst.  My prayers will continue for her, her family and for her friends and those caring for her.  You take it easy too, so you do not have any complications.  Julia

Thank you so much, Amy! I can understand how exhausted you must be, as a fresh post-op yourself. I appreciate your updates on Brenda so much-she has a lot of people praying for her right now. I'm glad she's starting to get a little better-I am hoping and praying she keeps moving forward. Take care, Lisa

Amy, thank you for the update.  This must be really hard on you, being a new post op and then seeing your friend go through this.  We've all been praying for Brenda.  I'm hopeful, from reading your post, that she is getting good care.  I'm glad they don't have her fully awake going through this.  Please take care of yourself too, and try not to overdo.  I know how easy that can be when you feel you have so much to do.  I'll keep you in prayer too.

Amy, you're doing a great job.  Thank you. Please just let Brenda and her family know that we're all thinking of them and understand how challenging everything is for them right now.  If they need anything we are here for them. Lori
