Minor (I HOPE!!) Roadblocks
You all know the drill, so I won't go into all the boring details. I have been going through the process for about 7 months. I got the tentative date like I posted earlier of Nov. 9th. My vitamin B1 was low when they did blood tests about a month ago, so I have been cramming a Complex B vitamin supplement. I will get tested again in about a week, and it has to be up for me to get the surgery.
Also, the insurance contacted Susan at the program and said I have to have a Cardio workup before they will approve it. When I had the sleep study (and discovered I have sleep apnea) they recorded a number of instances of an irregular heart rate/beat or something. So I am going to be trying to get them on the phone and sucking up today to try to get in as soon as possible so I can keep the date.
On the plus side, my packet was just turned in to the insurance on Tuesday, and they called her Wednesday to tell her I needed the Cardio consult. So obviously they are very fast and not intending to drag things out for me. I know someone is going to ask sooo.... I have Samaritan Select Health Insurance. I am going through the Bariatric program at Good Sam in Corvallis. That is why I am pretty sure the insurance is not going to be a problem. It is VERY good insurance and I have been really happy with it since it became an option for me last year.
I looked for the Mens forum that Jer was talking about, I couldn't find it so I guess you are stuck with my ramblings in here.
Oh, and I am not the praying type, but I did light a candle for Brenda this morning when i got home from work and will let it burn today. I sure hope she is pulling through OK.
Good morning - I hope you can get your cardio consult scheduled soon. I had to have one too, but in my case it was only an EKG that I needed. They did a second one when I went in for my pre-ops too. Mine were most likely from anxiety due to the ex that I finally threw out of the house! Anyway, I hope it won't be anything that will delay your surgery.
Candles are just as good as prayers, as are healing vibes, the force, etc.
Not to chase you out of this forum, but if you're looking for the men's forum, you will find it here:

I'm glad things are moving right along for you! Your insurance sounds great. I had to have a cardio workup, too, and it turned out to just be a small murmur. Make sure you use your CPAP diligently until surgery-it'll help a lot with your surgery outcome. Even if you find the men's forum, don't abandon us! We need more guys around here!
Well, I just got off the phone with a very nice lady at the cardiology office. I told her I wasn't above begging at this point, and I would come over and kiss her feet, wash her car, bathe her dog, whatever it took to get me in right away. She laughed and hooked me up with a consult for next Tuesday.
I also got a call and they are switching me to a different CPAP machine. I am having problems keeping this one on all night, and I ran into the doctor that put me on it last week when I went to weigh in at the Bariatric Center. She just happened to be going in when I was and she asked me how I was doing with it. I told her I was having problems, and true to her word, she called in a prescription for a newer, better machine. I have an appointment to get it next week, so hopefully I will have better luck with it.
I also spent some time updating my profile in case you are interested.
Hey, I checked out your profile...good job. I like the wallpaper in the background. One thing I have found that I like is Liquid Vitamin B. I get it at Wal-Mart in the Vitamin B section for about $4.50 and you put a dropper full under your tongue and it is absorbed quickly. As I am a pre-op Lap band patient I am not sure if you might have any absorption issues after surgery...but this liquid vitamin B is great and you just hold it under your tongue for about 30 seconds----if you can!
I just wanted to say hello & welcome. I wish you the best on your journey!

Wow - nice job on your profile. I'm really glad to hear they got you in for the cardiology appointment quickly. Geez - a job like yours would tend to give one more heart flutters than my crazy ex! At any rate, I'm glad scheduling this test hasn't slowed you up.

Good luck with your trip through the hoops to surgery. You have an unbelievable journey ahead of you.
I went through it a while back and had my surgery last June. I've lost about 73lbs since surgery. I started with my first consult last Feb and have lost over 100 lbs since then.
Linda posted the mens forum for you. It is a really informative site and the guys don't cut any slack. They tell it like it is and if you screw up they will let you know. The site has a weigh-in on Sunday. You post your loss or if you are stalled, everyone goes through it, they will encorage you and help you through it.
Again good luck and keep us all informed.

Thank you all for the support and kind words.
Linda, thanks for pointing me to the mens forum. I am actually pretty computer saavy but I for some reason couldn't track it down this morning. I blame it on lack of sleep. I had worked a 12 hour shift last night (6 pm to 6 am) and hadn't (still haven't for that matter) gone to bed to sleep yet.
Randy, thank you, and I went and lurked today at the men's forum. Looks like a great bunch of guys. I intend to jump in this weekend and introduce myself. Oh, and congratulations on your success so far!
Again, thanks everyone, and scoot over will ya? I am gonna need a spot on that losers bench!
