It's completely normal. Not fun, but normal.

Yep - it's called ketosis from burning fat.  I carry the Listerine Strips around with me to prevent it during the day. Linda

It may help to brush and floss your teeth before going to bed at night.  It should help keep the bad breath monsters away! As the others said, fluids should be consumed more often during the day, especially water.

Yup, it's a ketosis by-product.  If you consume very small amounts of carbohydrates each day (20g) after about 48-72 hours you go into ketosis which for us fatties is a good thing because since your body can't use carbs for energy, it has to metobolize your fat tissue.  One of the chemical by-products is Acetone... yes, the same stuff they put in nail polish remover, which gets excreted in your breath/saliva and urine.  Gross huh?  that's why your urine and your breath smell.  Really the only thing you can do to keep it from getting out of control is flu**** out of your system with more water.  Brushing your teeth really doesn't last long since your body is constantly generating more saliva and pushing more acetone into it.  Mouth wash is better than brushing... but chewing gum or breath mints is your best option to mask the odor as they tend to last longer.
