I was scheduled to get my band with Dr Patterson on 10/10, but she called today and asked if I could do it tomorrow!  She is teaching a group of surgeons how to do the band and her patient cancelled.  So all these surgeons are going to be at the conference room at the Hilton and they will see my insides... she will have a microphone to explain to them what she is doing as she does it and can answer questions.  She had someone lined up to be the patient for this, but that patient cancelled at the last minute. This took away some of the time I had planned to be nervous!  ;)  I figure it's a good thing though, she's gonna do an extra-good job with a bunch of surgeons watching, right?? say a little prayer for me, or send me good energy, or do a little dance... whatever it is that you think brings love and luck! update on my husband:  he had his band installed 9/4.  Left the hosp same night, sore for about 2-3 days but pretty quick recovery... was on full liquids for about a week and then on soft foods for about a week.  Now, a month later he is eating less than pre-surgery but doesn't have restriction really... bread is hard to eat, as is rice.... he lost 20 pounds pretty quick (first week after surgery) and has now gained 5 back, he's looking forward to his first fill next week..

Wow Melanie!  I'll bet that was a surprise.  Sounds good though - no one is likely to slip up badly when they're being watched so closely.  Best wishes for a great procedure and speedy recovery.  Prayers are on the way. Linda

Er, does this mean you get some $$ taken off the bill for being a teaching patient, and for saving their hides with such short notice? lol

eh, I figured there were enough built-in benefits.  ;)  It was fine.  (although a deductible waiver would have been lovely!  I am lucky to have insurance paying all but $1000). m.
