Just got a phone call this morning from the Women's Heart Program at OHSU, saying that I will be having an appointment with a cardiologist on the same day as my initial appointments at the bariatric clinic!  The appointment clerk said that scheduling all my appointments on the same day would save me a trip, even though my trip is less than 6 miles!

How cool that they coordinate that!  Is this part of getting accepted into the OHSU program?  Or do you have a heart condition you are dealing with as well?  Forgive me if that is too personal.

The appointment with the cardiologist is part of the OHSU's WLS clinic's requirements to ensure that I can tolerate the WLS.  I think that the WLS surgeons want to be careful in that there are no heart-related problems that could affect my ability to undergo surgery. I may need to undergo a sleep study, but that will be determined at my initial appointment.  I had a similar sleep study about 3 years ago, but it was conducted at home rather than in the sleep lab.

That's great Vicki.  I also had to see the cardiologist.  I like the fact that OHSU makes sure all systems are go before the take you into surgery.  Best wishes, Linda

Me too, Linda.  And I didn't go thru the cardiologist when I had my other surgeries at OHSU.  At least, I still tolerated them very well altho in one of my surgeries, I briefly felt sick passing an employee break room while being wheeled from the recovery room to my hospital room.  It was around lunch time and the employees were nuking popcorn and meats and all these smells wafted out of that room! Thank you for the wishes!

What it saves you is having to find parking up there, lol! Lori

Parking at OHSU is a piece of cake!  They have a big lot under the building and it's free for patients. Linda

Yeah, about the parking structure.  I've gotten stuck in there several times for longer than an hour when someone who doesn't know how to drive (or, possibly, has a medical crisis) gets stuck.  Ugh! I go up probably once a month.  Still hate it.  The valet situation has made it better but its still no fun... Lori
