Well my surgery is suppose to be October 12th and today Kaiser called and told me that I am now not covered after being in there program for 13 months. I am going to fight and file an appeal, but still down about my emotional roller coaster today. It seems they either made a mistake and I should have never been allowed in the program or they say my insurance changed in April when our company renewed our policy. Still sifting through all the BS.  Any suggestions? Brenda

Since your employer renewed the policy last April, you should have received a new plan book if any insurance plans changed at renewal.  Otherwise, review your current plan book and see if WLS is indeed covered.  If it turns out that your WLS is covered in your plan book after all, then you have a very good case for appeal. If you lose your appeal, then contact the Obesity Law and Advocacy Center at http://www.obesitylaw.com/

Oh Brenda!  I'm so sorry.  Vicki is right -- review your plan book and see if it states whether it is covered or not, then file your appeal. Linda

What a huge disappointment.  I agree with the other two women, check your insurance plan to see if it is indeed covered. Best of luck!

oh goodness!  I'm so sorry.  This is my worst fear!  Good luck in your research and hopefully you can appeal.
