I need to eat more!
I saw Dr. O'Rourke and Dr. Kim today. I'm doing very well, but they think I need to eat a bit more -- about 1,000 calories a day. I usually average about 700-800. That's why I run out of energy. Dr. O'Rourke says I should give it a few more weeks or a month before I try meat again, since I don't do well with it, but I told him that if I get stuck with just yogurt or fish, that's fine with me. I don't miss meat that much. Maybe eventually I'll be able to eat it.
It was so nice to have Dr. O'Rourke come in and say - "You look like you're losing weight!" I had some blood work done, so I'll know my levels in a day or two. They have this really cool on-line chart now so you can just look at your chart notes and blood test results on line. They give you the web site and a password when you go for your appointment. I don't have to go back now till my six month check-up!

That's great news!
I was told at the WLS seminar that it would take time to eat certain foods again after surgery and those foods should be introduced gradually. Some patients may not be able to tolerate them anymore.
Looks like Dr. Kim is one of the residents or fellows who works with Dr. O.?
Keep up the great work!

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
Yes - Dr. Kim is one of the residents. He helped Dr. O'Rourke with my surgery and came to see me every day in the hospital (so did Dr. O'Rourke). They are both great!
They did say that there may be things that I won't be able to tolerate -- that would be okay with me. I like fish a lot and I am doing well with milk products again, so I'm good!

Hi Linda, I'm glad to see you're doing so great! Did you ever imagine that you'd be told to eat MORE? LOL...I had to increase my calories too, and I started having a snack before bedtime, which has worked well. I know what you mean about not missing meat-I still don't do well with chicken-don't know if I ever will, really, but I don't care-it's worth it to have my life back!
