SEMI GOOD NEWS

I had my second visit with the physical therapist and dietician.  Both were pleased with what I hav accomplished.  I lost 8 pounds since the last vist.  I was pleased with that also. The best news I received today was that they were going to recommend that I have the surgery.  What a huge relief that was.  They will double check the paperwork and then forward it to the surgeon.  I asked if having surgery by the end of the year was realistic, and the dietician seemed to think there would be no problem. I am so excited....it will soon become a reality.   Now, I will wait two weeks for the surgeons office to call, then I will call them............so I am on my way....

Awesome news... I'm just a couple days behind you...  8/20 are my followups with the same 2 people.  I've lost 24 pounds since my first visit (30 days so far).  Looks like you're on the same track as me... was told by the dietician that if her and the physical therapist feel i made progress, they forward me to the surgeon too.   Keep us posted on the communication with them... I'd like to know how quickly they call you back.

WOW!!!  You have dont extremely well with the weight loss.  What type of exercising are you doing? For the time being, all I have done is walking.....but the physical therapist was fine with that.  I have been increasing the distance of my walks almost daily.  Don't use anything to record the distance, but it seems to be working.   For the food portion of it, mostly I have cut my food portions and been adding in more fruits and veggies, and of course fiber.  And then I am up to about 50 oz of water daily, sure that helps too. I am finding that I have more energy, which is fantastic!  How 'bout you?

Well when I put in my weight/height into fitday.com, my basal burn rate plus my lifestyle, I burn about 4800 calories a day with zero additional exercise.  So, I've cut my calorite intake down to about 1800-2000 a day.   So, the weight has been coming off quickly just by really controlly how much i've been eating.  It's been super hard and I get head hunger all the time... I've cheated some but not bingeing.  I wouldn't be surprised if atleast 15lbs has been water weight alone.  On average I've been drinking about 80-85fl oz of water a day... but i've always been a heavy drinker... when I was drinking regular calorie soda... i'd easily drink 6-8 12oz cans a day... which is the primary reason why I got so big.  I've cut out soda before to lose weight but always ended up over eating with food to compensate.  This time around, watching how many calories are in everything and keeping track, plus the exercise, i'm able to get the weight off.  Exercise wise, I got a gym membership.  I try to go atleast twice a week.  Spend about 30 minutes on eliptical machine with resistance.  then 20-30 minutes on weights.  Since i've started exercising, i've been sleeping much better and more regular and my energy is better.   If i lose this fast with diet alone and a normal sized stomach, i'm nervous as to how fast i'll lose post-op.
