I'm finally here.  I thought it would never come after all this time.  Kaiser is really hard to get through but I can really understand why they do what they do.  I am SO SO ready for this.   YEAH!!!

Congratulations!  This really is the most amazing surgery.  It's no cakewalk, but I'm so glad i did it.  I have had relatively few problems (a few times of food getting stuck, not liking protein shakes anymore, etc.), and overall I feel great!  You will be on the loser's bench soon now! Linda

Congratulations Heather! Maybe you will be going home on the day I have mine. It seems like a long time off, but it will be here before you know it. Brenda

Heather I am sooooooo happy for you!! Hope I will be seeing you at the hospital around the same time.  I go in for my surgeon appointment this friday and I HOPE i get my date for surgery too.  I have Dr. Leger at Kaiser. If anyone has any info on him please post!!! Good Luck and God Bless Heather I don't know if you remember me but we met at the open house at town hall awhile back and stood outside talking after the meeting.  I was the fat one (Hehehe) but not for long

Hi there.  So glad to hear from you.  I wasn't sure if we would ever meet up again.  Are you going to be at the 9/11 meeting?    I see that you got your date!!!!!   Congrats!!   When are you scheduled for the group meeting with Brenda & Tamara to go over the pre&post op diet?  I'll be at the one on the 14th.

Congratulations, Heather!!!! How exciting!  Kaiser does take their time, don't they?  Hee hee...  All for the best though, I'm sure.  Only 35 more days!!!  So, have you been practicing a "dry diet?"  Has that been difficult?   I'm totally interested in your story, as I am going thru Kaiser as well - not nearly as far in as you tho!!  Take care, Gretchen

Kaiser can be very frustrating at times but their program really is a good one.  The only thing I strongly disagree with in Kaiser's approach to WLS is the fact that they require a BMI of 50 before you qualify for their program if you do not have 2 life threatening co-morbidities.  This part of their program does NOT meet the NIH standards and required people to be far too overweight before having the ability to access the program.  The NIH standards say a BMI of 40 with no co-morbidities and you qualify for bariatric surgery.   Anyway.  I'll get off my soapbox. I rearly ever drank anything with my meals anyway so really the dry diet approach is nothing new for me but I'm sure I will have a few surprises and hard times coming up.
