No motivation
I am 5 months post-op from lap band surgery. Lately I haven't had any ambition to do anything. I should be exercising, doing daily chores, hobbies, enjoying my grandkids and family. But all I want to do is sit. I have been depressed even though I am on two meds. for depression.I have times of crying for hours. I even have started gambling once a week, and spent money I don't have.Has anyone else had any emotional issues since surgery. Suzanne
Hi Suzanne - it sounds like you might benefit from some counseling. Have you seen a therapist at all? Sometimes even a few visits, just to have someone to talk to and get a different perspective, can really be helpful. Do you go outside much? One of my biggest cure for depression is to just go outside for a walk. I don't mean a fast march -- even just a stroll. I love to go out at night -- right when the sun has dipped below the horizon, and it's still light and the tree frogs and crickets start to chirp. It's a really magical time. Give it a try.

Suzanne, I hope you're doing better.
If not, please get some help. It sounds like your medications may need to be adjusted at the very least. More seriously you may actually have some nutritional deficiencies happening. You may not be getting the medication absorbed properly, either.
Emotional issues following surgery are, unfortunately, VERY common. That's part of the reason you were sent to see Dr. Ude.
If you can't find help in Astoria, definitely touch base with Dr. Ude or Dr. Patterson. I'm sure both would love to help and are there to support you.
About your band, how is it working for you? Do you have restriction yet?
