Does anyone know anything about Dr's Konig and Archer, in Bend? My sister knows them and is trying to get me to go there for my lap band surgery. Good? Bad? Thanks!

When doing my research for my surgeon, I did come across their website.  Other than that, don't know much information about them.  I was able to find their website...... I ended up choosing Dr. Patterson in Portland......really like her.  And I didn't want to drive over the mountains.................figure though, they are about the same distance.  I live in Springfield also.

Thanks, Brandon, That's part of my problem also..... I have visions of the snow flying in the pass, and me having to get there because I am having problems. I can't figure out why I can't find any more information on them, they are a Blue distintion center, for Blue Cross, so I thought you had to do LOTS of surgeries for that?? So how long did it take you to get into Dr Patterson? Thanks, again. Laurie

Hi Laurie, I can only answer to some of your questions. My primary doc had me check OHSU and Legacy. Both BCBS approved. I went with Legacy and went to the orientation in April, had testing the beginning of  July and see the surgeon at the end of August. Probably another four or more weeks past that before surgery I'm imagining. It was way quicker than I expected, but not as quick as I had hoped!!!!! Martha

Before even getting to make an appointment with Dr. Patterson, you had to attend a seminar, which is held monthly.  Call them, they can give you info on that.   I attended my seminar on June 19.  They give you an tons of information, and an application for surgery.  I completed the application and sent it off.  They ask a little about your history, are interested in your insurance coverage.....so, about three weeks later, they called and informed me that I was in fact covered by my insurance, which I already knew.   Set my initial appointment with the psych, dietician, and a nutruitionist.....for August 15 and 16.  Two consecutive days, which I am not pleased about, but what do you do?  Luckily, my insurance will pay towards the mileage, 50 bucks for a one night hotel stay and 50 bucks per day for meals. That includes my husband.  So, I guess I can't complain too much.  Not sure how long the rest of the process takes, as I am taking it one day at a time.  I am just hoping to have the surgery completed by the end of the year, as I have hit my high deductible.  Know what I mean?  I will keep you informed.   I see you live in Springfield....small world, isn't it.
