Ok, please tell me that a plateau is normal.  This is my first one since I had my surgery.  I am a year out and stuck with 30 lbs to go.  I am drinking water til my teeeeeth float and am watching every morsel that crosses my lips.  I am trying not to stress but I've come so far to fail.  Has anyone else gone through this?  What did you do to break the spell?  Please help!!!!!  Thanks Nancy

If you are a year out and have reached your first plateau, consider yourself amazingly lucky.  You are definitely the exception and not the rule.  Most folks will hit a plateau every couple of weeks.  It just takes the body time to adjust to the lack of calories and to decide to give up the fat instead of trying to hoard it against a long, cold winter!  Hang in there.  You'll get passed it. Linda, what a positive person you are.  Its just tough right now...I am expriencing the C word (constipation).  I had hernia surgery a week ago and although I am not taking perscribed pain meds just using ibuprophen like the dr said I have been this way now for 4 days.  I think I will probably need to use dynomite.  Plateaus are hard for anyone.  thank you for the encouraging words.   I am still on track and nothin is going to beat me.

Your friend,

Nancy  PS  How is the fever going?  Just keep up with your water.

Oh my!  Well, if you are on the pain meds, there's the reason you're not "moving" right there!  Have you tried some MOM?  I finally had my first BM yesterday.  It was not that bad, but took a lot of time.  I had heard about the big C and ate very lightly for the three days before surgery.  The day before, I had a protein shake, some yogurt, and a salad.  It made gong a lot easier I think.  I'm now on Colace twice a day.  Hopefully, that will help me keep things moving, since I'm not eating a whole lot. It's written in my post op instructions to take it twice a day.  I can't imagine what would be harmful about it, but I'd ask the doc. Linda

Hi Kathy.  Well  my surgeon knows that I have had an RnY and he suggested that I use Ibuprofen for post op pain.   I didn't want perscribed pain meds.  Anyway I am feeling much better but I am still stuck with those lousy last 30.  Nancy T
