Hi Carolee.  OHSU has three excellent surgeons.  I had Dr. Robert O'Rourke.  There is also Clifford Deveny and Bruce Wolfe.  OHSU is a research hospital, so you have lots and lots of people coming in to check how you are doing -- I never felt so cared for in my life!  Everyone was so nice and very responsive to any question or concern I had.  I feel like they must have injected me with super heal juice, as I am doing so very well so soon after surgery. Legacy Emmanuel in Portland has an excellent obesity clinic.  Dr. Jan did my rny and he is wonderful!  Nancy

I'am going to Sacred Heart in Eugene, Dr. Yarbrough. I interviewed DR.s from Portland, Salem, & Eugene.I was happy with Dr. Yarbrough. He is very educated (Mayo  clinic), he only does gastric bypass surgeries & lapband. There is always 2 surgeons in the operating room. My insurance was billed and accepted so easily.

I picked Dr. Patterson at Legacy Emmanuel/OWLS.  I had thought about picking OHSU but I'm not so sure about getting my surgery done at a "learning hospital"  Patterson has alot of experience and surgeries under her belt. 

LOL - it's not the surgeons who are learning!  It's the students who come and check up on the patients afterwards.  All the surgeons at OHSU are top notch and very experienced. Linda

I was recommended for Dr. Tersigni, he comes highly recommended.  My insurance would cover, but I would had a high co-pay to him and the hospital.  So I am looking into get it through a doctor the VA sent me to in Portland.   Living here in the Bay Area, having a few friends that work the hospital says Dr Tersighni is the best in his field.

I suggest Dr. Tersigini at North Bend Medical center in Coos Bay too. He did  my daughter's RNY and my lapband. All his patients love him. He has done GP on every overweight nurse at the hospital because their insurance covers it. He's an excellent surgeon!
