Stopping Hormone pills?

Has anyone out there been on hormones like just premarin and have been told to cold turkey stop them 30 days before surgery? I've been on premarin for 30 years and read I had to stop them 30 days before surgery. Good thing I read it, the Dr. didn't say anything to me about the meds I was taking. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this. Thanks Carolee

Hormones have been shown to increase the clotting factor in your blood.  Since they are concerned about blood clots post-op, they will often have you stop taking them.  I was only taking .5 mg of estradiol, so I didn't have to stop mine. Linda
