Three month update
Wow - can you believe it's been three months? I can't. All is going well. I'm not on a scale at home - I just don't weigh in very often. The last time I had weighed at my doctor's office I had lost a few more lbs, but it's a bit at a stand still right now, which I think might be common. I can tell it is time to up my exercise program a bit.
That may be a while before I do that, though. I was at an estate sale, and had my bi-focals on, and stepped off a deck step without seeing it. My depth perception is bad, and I went crashing down. My knee and ankle took the brunt of the fall, and I am walking with a cane and limping around.
Life has been good, though. We bought a fifth wheel trailor, and doing some antiquing and traveling. This has been a dream for me for years, but because of my size, I didn't think I would ever be able to realize that dream. With just the little weight that I have lost, I am feeling so much better and am so much more active (going to my grandson's baseball games, playing tennis on a basic scale and going for walks with the grand daughters) and I have a wonderful sensation of happiness in my heart.
I go back up to Portland for a second endoscopy (the first one failed due to the swelling and ulcer), but it isn't a big deal at all - no pain, and a one day recouperation time - and I hope that will help me as far as eating something other than pudding, clear broth and jello and pop cicles.
Thanks to Brandon, I got online this morning to email her, and decided to post a quick update. Hope all is well. I spend much more time on the computer in the winter than I do the summer months! I'll try to stay in touch better in the future!
Gayla - it's great to hear that you are doing well and loving life now. So sorry to hear about the fall. I had one too that really put a crimp in my style, but I seem to be healing well from it. I'm off to surgery in just a few days and am so very excited.
Traveling around to do antiquing and estate sales sounds wonderful! Especially since out summer hasn't been terribly hot so far -- I think that would be so fun to do. Best wishes on that second endoscopy.

Gayla, Glad to hear from you. I am so glad you are doing so well and getting out more. I also know about the falls. I tripped over my dog about 3 weeks out and fell forward onto the pavement. I could not get up by myself as my legs would not lift my 300+ pounds up off the ground. A neighbor drove her car over to where I was and I was able to yard myself up pulling on the seat belt strap. Really embarrassing but that is the kind of stuff that made me realize I had to have this surgery. Now I can get up from the floor/ground without help and funny thing is, I don't fall, trip or stumble as often now either. Wait till next summer and see how much easier it is for you to maneuver!! Have fun this summer too. Hope to see you soon at some type of get together. Julia
