Flipped port? surgery today @ 5pm

Hello everyone, After my 4th fill, I finally had restriction & was loosing weight.  But, I was also having problems  with food getting stuck & throwing up.   Before the 4th of July, my doc tried to access my port to take a little saline out, but couldn't.  2 weeks later (last Friday), he tried again.  After a while, I was sent down to radiology to see if they could find the port.  Boy, that sure was an interesting experience! He poked around, but still could not get the needle in.  It was like he wa****ting the backside, but doc stated it "looked right to him".  So, now I will be having surgery today at 5:00 pm to see what is wrong & if it had flipped.  He wanted to do it last night, but needs to have a spare port on hand just in case it needs to be replaced. So....I am in shock,  not because of surgery again........but of having to pay for it!  I just sold my quads to go towards paying on 2nd mortgage, now I have to take more funds out. I will also be missing work this week to recoop.  So, I will have time to chat online. See you all in a few days.

Yipes Jackie!  I'm so sorry to hear this.  It seems unfair that you have to pay for it, but I guess it's your innard's fault and not your's or your doc's.  Dang!  Make those innards work to pay this off.  I hope all goes well and you're where you want to be soon. Linda

Hey Linda, Yes, it is unfair...a friend of mine asked it there was a "warrentee" on this thing, lol.  Guess not!  I have no idea what the cost will be. I had 2.4cc and now back down to 1.5cc.......nothing like starting over again!  Oh well, it's better than throwing up good food!!!

Thanks Lori,  Yes, it was a quick fix....I was in and out of the hospital in a few hours.  I came home that night & have been sleeping ever since.  Hurts more now than it did the first time!

That's great!  I hope you're feeling better soon.  At least you have a frame of reference on that pain scale so that, if something does go poorly, you'll know to get in touch with your surgeon sooner. Fingers crossed this is your only complication and that you're on your way! Lori

Jackie,  I am so sorry this is happening to you.  I suppose you are out of surgery by now as I am reading this kinda late.  Hope it all went well and you can go home fast.  Seems like this is a strange complication.  Hard way to get a fill huh.  On the bright side---we will get to talk to you on line for a few days now.  Take care.  Julia

Julia, I was home by 8pm, had some soup & went to bed.  Dr Umbach had to reattach the port, as it came loose from the muscle & that is why it couldn't be accessed to take a little saline. I was at 2.4cc & had good restriction, but was throwing up with most meats.  He tried to take out .5, but just couldn't do it. Now it is reattached & I have 1.5cc.
