Whew! Am I Glad That's Done!

Well, almost! Good evening everyone! I had my lap band placed yesterday morning by Dr. O'Rourke at OHSU.  Everything went smoothly and I'm slowly getting my bottom moving.  I was supposed to go home this afternoon, but had a reaction to the oral pain medication that I needed to take before they would let me go.  There were some respiratory issues, so they've decided to keep me another night.   Oh well!  Better be safe about it all!  Honestly, I was feeling really crummy at first but a little IV benedryl and the sweet bliss of IV morphine and now I'm feeling much better. My husband and I decided to take advantage of the great view and willl be heading over to the Koehler Pavilion in just a little bit to watch the fireworks.  It should be a great show! I'm slowly starting to get a little bit of fluids in me.  The band is really tight, so Dr. O'Rourke wants me on clear liquids for the next week.  Jello and chicken broth are to be my best friends for now....oh, and of course popcycles! Tammy, So glad to hear you are doing well.   Things have been going great for me as well - I will start back to work next Monday.  Got the go ahead from Dr. Deveney yesterday to start on soft food -- yeah!   Keep getting those liquids down and keep moving -- take good care of yourself. Shirley
