OHSU Pre-Op Appointment
Hi Linda - Wow, it's been incredible to watch your progress, and now you are just a few weeks away from your surgery date! I want you to know that I forgot everything I learned the first week after surgery. I was so glad that my daughters and my husband had learned right along with me. I don't know what I would have done without them.
My daughter stayed with me in my private room at OHSU. I was glad, because I had been over sedated, and couldn't remember a thing they told me, and you do get a lot of staff come in and help you with information. It was hard on my daughter, but she was also glad. They gave her a cot to sleep in and she was laying right next to me. I found it very comforting to have her there.
I also want to thank you for all of the encouraging you have done for me and others, and I hope that we can all encourage you through the next couple of months and more too! You seem to be a wonderful person, and I can't wait to meet you in person...by the way, how is your back doing? You might want to take your own pillow so that you are comfortable....and don't be afraid to ask for anything like pillows, rolled towels or blankets that will help you feel better in your back while your in the hospital!
Thanks Gayla - well, I try to be a wonderful person, but I don't always succeed. I've gotten so much help from the great people here that I like to give a little support back. You can never have too many friends you know -- life is way too short to be crabby.
Thanks for the tips on the pillow and rolled towels, etc. My back is doing okay -- I am managing on pain pills and a special cushion I sit on, etc. I blew a couple of the discs in my lower back, but see the spine specialist this Friday, so hopefully, I'll have some answers and maybe some treatment soon. I've been doing some physical therapy on my own. I've been through it so many times, I've got all the equipment and the exercise sheets! I had a couple of car accidents over the last several years. This, however, has to be the worst damage I've ever done. Luckily, it shouldn't interfere with my RNY, so I'm happy about that.
Hope you're feeling better every day!
Linda
