I made my decision.....
I listened to 3 information seminars, one being in Eugene, and because my insurance wouldn't cover it, listened to Legacy and OHSU. After much consideration, I have decided to go with Legacy. I just felt more comfortable. Can't really give specifics, but liked it. So, I am mailing my questionnaire form in tomorrow, will also call and schedule a sleep study locally. I am definitely progressing on my journey. Now, if I can just decide which surgery I want. I am definitely leaning towards the lap band......but haven't made my final decision yet.
If you are considering Lap band and are self pay you may consider my Dr. at the coast. The price is about $10,000 less. I posted some new photos on my profile but some how messed up the photo one, so Im still trying to fix it. But there are before photos and after photos.
I love my band ! I went from a size 20-22 to a size 8-10. If you have any questions I would be glad to answer them. Gail
Dr. Tersigni is down at the North Bend Medical clinic. You can find him on his web site as well www.baybariatrics.com He is running a lap band special for $10,000.
I had my surgery 2 1/2 years ago and love the fact that I ca still go see him for follow ups. The Band is only the beginning of journey. You need to be able to go for regular adjustments. There are several people from the Portland/ Vancouver that go down to see him. Yes you have to take a day off work to do it but its not like you are going every month.
Also I run a support group in McMinnville. I dont know how close that is to you. Our next meeting is June 30th. at 9am. would love to have you if you can come let me know and I'll let you know where.

The bonus about the band is that you get to Have fills. The band creates tighness but as the fat melts away from your internal organs the band becomes loose, kinda like a wedding ring. So fills are a wonderful thing. They keep you tight and its an easy adjustment, doesnt take more then about a minute or two, easier as you loose the weight and the port is accessed with ease. Im almost three years out and I still have adjustments. I've been up and Ive been down, this band is a creature on its on. Its different in everyones body. I would plan on 3 adjustments the first year, 2 the next and then maybe none its hard to say. Im unadjusted now so Im working my way back up to my sweet spot
good luck Gail !
Brandon - Congrats! I know from talking to you that you didn't take this decision lightly, and you really did your homework to find the perfect place for you! I'll be looking forward to seeing how you progress! I hope you'll stick with the support group, as I know for me personally, it's really been helpful, even though I have only been twice. I wished I would have gone long before I had the surgery!
