surgery on June 22... first time on line with you all
Hi, I've been reading your forms for about 2 weeks now and am now getting the nerve to sign on. I have no idea as to what to expect the first week or so after surgery, which I hope will be laproscoptic RNY. I'm 66 years young and I haven't seen my age group repersented yet, but their must be some out there! Looking forward to comining home after surgery and starting the rest of my life. Love to all my new friends and fellow losers... isn't that a fine word!

p.s.. how do you get those neat weight chart going???
Hi Linda! Welcome to the group. There are a couple of us in our 50s and 60s here, so you're not all that much older. I think Randy and Shirley are closer to your age, and they are having surgery just a few days before you! Here is the link to the tutorials on how to do some of the neat stuff to your profile and signature. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/a,messageboard/action,replies/board_id,5465/cat_id,5065/topic_id,3290650/ If the link doesn't work, go to the top of the page, click on forums, select the Roux en Y Gastric Bypass, then on the left side of the page, select message board. Once you get to the RNY message board, the tutorial link is the top message on the list.
Do you have Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies? It is a great book that really helps with some of the questions we all have. I highly recommend it.

Welcome!! I am relatively new to this group also, but they are a great bunch of people. Willing to answer any and all questions you may have and are extremely supportive. I am still waitng to make that initial appointment. I go to Portland on Tuesday to visit Legacy Good Sam, then will make my decision as to where I want my surgery done. I visited OHSU last week. So many things to consider. But, hopefully, my journey will begin as the others has and I will be a member of the losers club in no time at all. BTW, I am nearly 53, so that is close.
The book LInda recommended is one that was recommended to me, and I am finding it extremely informative.....wish I had gotten it sooner.
Hello Linda, Welcome to the board!! I am glad to hear that you are having the surgery. I am 60 years young and I had my RNY in Nov 2007, I have NOT had any problems to speak of, I am off all my med's, my back does not hurt as much as it use too, I can bend over and walk faster and so very glad that I had this surgery and wish that I could of had it done sooner than I did. I would do it again in a heart beat. It was hard at first to get my protein and water in but now it is good. Now I can tell just about how much is 3 oz of food and make sure that I take my vitimans every day. I will be praying for you and you will be just fine.
