Eugene Support Group

Anyone out there from the Eugene group?  When and where is the next meeting?  Now that I am down over 100 lbs. I want to brag (not really...lol).   -F

I recently attended a support group in Eugene. Looking at Dr. Umbach's page it appears there is another one scheduled for this coming Tuesday.  Follow this link. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+e vents+Thomas+Umbach+jqp.html The ones scheduled that say patients only would be the one to attend and "brag". I will going there this coming Tuesday myself. I believe that the topic is supposed to be about Body Imaging. Last month was about emotional eating and there was an excellent turnout. We sat in a circle and introduced ourselves first and shared our success or hopes for surgery then went into the seminar topic. It was the first support group there I attended. I told Dr. Umbach, at a later appointment I had with him, that I enjoyed the seminar. He said he was told the seminars for patients is getting very big and they are thinking of dividing the support group into Beginers and Graduates or something like that.  Hope to see you there.

side note, these meetings are for patients of obc only. they just don't have enought room. However, anyone can come to the informal meetings that Kim organizes

Who is Kim? How do I find her on OH? 

she posts here quite frequently although I have not seen her lately.  She will post when she is ready to have another group get together.  We all let her decide since she is the one that hosts all the time. There is plenty of chatter about it  before had so you wont miss anything.

Thank you. I will keep watching for her here then. I was planning on attending the support group through obc tonight but I leave to Portland on Thrusday night and am still trying to get things ready. If you are going tonight, maybe you could post here and let me know what it was about for sure and what the next topic scheduled will be. I have only been to the one meeting last month. I was not a patient of the ob****il Jan. when Doctor Umbach performed emergency surgery for me. Then in May, I was having complications again from adhesions. He told me about the support group since he has taken over my bariatric care and suggested I join. He said the group is getting really big and they may divide it between "beginners" and "graduates".  Quite likely you and I will both be in the graduate group. My RnY was done just over a year ago in Mexico. I have had no groups to go to until I moved here to Oregon. I feel really lucky to have had Dr. Umbach take over my bariatic care.  I believe you were at last months group meeting. You look great. I checked out your profile and you have a very beautiful boy and he looks absolutely happy.  Hopefully we'll meet again sometime.

First.. thank you for your kind comments.  Second.. I do believe that the support group meeting is next tuesday night.  It is always the 4th Tuesday of the month.  Hopefully you can make it.  Be sure to introduce yourself next time! Tara
