First I am exhausted.  I have slept the biggest part of two days.  My DH keeps waking me up for "refueling and water".  I am eating 2 oz of food at a time and feel "stuffed".  Tonight I am nauseated.  My stomach still feels like I have been punched a couple of times and bruised.  Is this all normal feeling or should I be concerned?  No temp at this point.  However, I am just so darn tired. I think I might have been over active the first few days after I came home.  I went somewhere every one of the days....am I just paying the price for all of the activitiy?  UGH - going back to bed...but still wondering what is going on!

You might want to call Susan tomorrow and ask Gayla.  Have you taken your temperature?  Any fever?  You may have just worn yourself out, but it would be safest to check.

Hi Gayla, While I think it is normal for us to overdo things in the first couple of days (cuz we feel so darn good) and then be worn out and tired afterwards, I agree with Linda to put a call in to your dr. tomorrow.  You can never be too sure.  If you are not feverish than I wouldn't worry immediately but I would rather be safe than sorry so call the Dr.   i still have days where I am really tired and other when I feel like I could run a marathon (well not really but you get the idea :) and I remember right after surgery having more drastic differences in my energy level from day to day.  Your body and metabolism is still getting used to the drastic difference in caloric intake and such so you may just need the rest but to be sure I would call the Dr. Take care and keep us posted!

Gayla,  it was that wild party on Sunday!!!  Check with you surgeon though.  I was so tired for several weeks.  I went back to work after 3 weeks and could only stay about 1/2 day.  Julia

Gayla, I think this is very normal.  Remember, you just had MAJOR surgery, hon.  As long as you don't have a fever or pain, I would not worry tonight.  Definitely give your doc a call in the morning.  Many of us need a full 4 to 6 weeks to heal up from major surgery.  Take care and let us know.

Thank you everyone for your responses.  I'll call Susan first thing in the morning.  I have some issues around Fibromyalgia and sleep apnea that also could be contributing, and since the surgery, I have had a hard time keeping my CPAP mask on at night. Anyway, I think you are all right, I'll call tomorrow.  It's just so darn hard to figure out what "normal" is, and how I am really suppose to be feeling.  I have pushed some limits as far as for a while I was eating almost 4 ounces at a time, over 30 minutes, and I have decided that is too much and hope I haven't done damage.  I also attened that "wild bbq" that Julia was talking about :) as well as going to the grands baseball games, going shopping with the hubby - every day it's been something. So,  I'll make the call in the morning!  I so appreciate all of you, and your input!  Thanks so very much! Monday is my post op appointment, and I am making a list of questions for Susan and the Doc!

Don't feel to bad I would say its VERY normal. I felt the same way and I still don't have my energy back yet. I got up at 5am today and was back in bed by 7:30 and just never could get going. Just keep sipping your water and getting in as much protein as you can. It does get better. When I was at your stage I didn't expect anything from myself. Going for a walk around the mall was enough to knock me out. Hang in there! Rebecca

Gayla, First, grats on the successful surgery! Second, don't forget that you are probably getting 200-300 calories a day at this point, so your body thinks it's starving... hence it shuts down a lot of extraneous activity (like being awake! hehe) and 200 calories isn't much energy either. You will probably perk up once your body starts burning the fat for fuel and you are done with your pain pills. But like everyone else said, I would call Susan to be safe, definitely better safe than sorry! Michele :)
