Hi Everyone - Well, I  am 7 days post op, and feeling pretty good at this point.  I don't have scales, so I can't tell you if I am losing or not, but I am not in pain, haven't thrown up or been nauseated.  I am having serious leg cramps, probably from being dehydrated, so I am having trouble sleeping at night.  I am hoping that I can drink more water than I am.  I can't stand my water, so I am drinking extra watered down lemon crystalite, which is helping me to get more water in my body. I can't tell if I am full or not yet.  My stomach always feels satisfied, which is such a weird situation for me.  Usually I wake up at night hungary, and again in the morning suffering from hunger....so this is all a new feeling for me!   I am walking more than I have ever walked - but am 7 lbs lighter just from the pre-surgery diet.  I am looking for a new protien powder.  I love EAS, but find that it isn't enough protien if you consider you have to use 2 scoops of protien powder to get 27.5 grams.  I am going to order unjury, but was hoping that I could find something at one of the local markets that would work, in order to save shipping fees. I am looking forward to attending the BBQ on Sunday June 3, but it is also my grandson's birthday, and I don't know what their plans are for that day.  I would love to meet more of you all!!! Sincerely,  Gayla

Gayla I'm glad to hear that everything went well and that your recovery has been univentful.   How long were you in the hospital?  Was it 2 ot 3 days?  I will be having surgery later in June with Dr. Deveney and would like to know what to expect. Thanks in advance Randy

Hi Randy - I had surgery late in the afternoon on Wednesday the 23, and I came home on Friday morning at 11 am on the 25th.  There were several factors involved...but the biggest one was that I had a fabulous support team at home....both of my daughters, my mother and my husband.  I had no stairs to climb in my house, and I had bought most of the things on the list for preparing for coming home.  The other final thing is that I peed on Thursday :)  So, there are no guarantees, it all depends on how your surgery goes. Good luck Randy.  I hope that you will do well.  Dr. Deveney is just the bestest doctor ever!  He has a team of professionals that cover all of the important bases.  Don't be afraid to ask the PT's anything that you are nervous about...they have tons of ways to help you adjust to your needs at home! Gayla,  if you like the lemon taste in water, try True Lemon or True Lime.  It is a little packet you put in water to flavor it.  No sugar.  I sometimes put in a sweeter but usually just the powder.  I also put it on fish and chicken when cooking and it tastes really great.  Vegetables too---when you get to those stages!  I first ordered it online but now see it in Albertsons and Safeway.  It is in the section with the splenda/sweetners.  Keep at the fluid intake.  Hope to see you on the 3rd.  Julia

Gayla - it's so good to see you posting!  I'm glad to hear that you are doing well.  I got a great scale at Costco (if you are in the market).  It's a Weigh****chers scale and measures to .1 of a pound.  I can't wait till it starts moving in a more consistent downward trend for me. I've managed to lose 25 pounds pre-op, but it's hard to keep it off.  I'm doing my best to keep the weight off till surgery, which isn't till July 24th. Hope to see you Sunday! Linda

Hi Gayla, Thanks for the update! I'm glad you are doing well. I know what you mean about not being able to tell if you are full or not. It's such a strange sensation, isn't it? I hope you are able to get enough fluids in now. I find that hot tea is very soothing to my pouch and stays down well-you may want to try it. Best of luck, Lisa

Gayla - I forgot to tell you.  I ordered EAS 100% Whey Protein.  I got it at AllStarHealth.com -- a 5 lb. container for $27.95.  You only use one scoop and it's 23 grams of protein, so it ends up being actually cheaper than the soy/whey stuff they have at Costco.  I did pay shipping on it, but it wasn't all that much considering that I bought a vanilla and a chocolate, so they mailed me 10 lbs of stuff.  It tastes about the same as all protein does to me -- just fine.  I love the Unjury, but it is a bit spendy.  I actually found a website that compared the protein powders and their nutrition and cost per serving size.  While there was one above EAS 100% Whey, it was at a sales price that was no longer available. I'm glad you are doing well.  Finding a protein powder that you like can sometimes be a challenge and I wish you luck with that.  Keep up with the fluids and I bet that'll help with the leg cramps. See ya Sunday!
