Surgery over,still sore but recovering

Hello,
I am 4 days post op and I am doing fine except still waiting for that first bowel movement, I have had a lot of gas but that has been about all. I am talking walks and keeping up with th fluids. I am feeling a little more sure of myself that I can do this. My smell sense has gotten stronger, I can now reconigze what my neighbor is bar-b-qing.LOL. I want to say that you to allof you who e-mailed me support prior to my surgery. It was indeed comforting.

Welcome to the losers bench, Richard!!  Congratulations on your surgery.  I wish for you a speedy recovery.   I hope the neighbor's BBQ won't be too hard for you.  I remember when I came home from the hospital, that is that last thing that was on my mind .... but then it was November too.  lol

Glad to hear things went so well.  I remember feeling much more normal than I expected.  I kept waiting for the shoe to drop, but it didn't really.  Expect your first week of movements to bit weird, but know they will normalize too.  I didn't have any neighbors BBQing, but I don't think I was ever so aware of how many pizza commercials there are on T.V.  I was afraid that was "head hunger" and I would be feeling it all the time, but once I started to eat, I didn't feel left out.  I was too busy thinking about what I would try next, and whatever it was would feel like a feast. Congratulations Rich!  I'm so glad that you are feeling okay and more sure of your decision.  I waited a week for the first BM, so be patient :). I hope to see you at the support meeting on the 9th!  The group is great and you get some super information (if you've already been to one, you know that).
