Off to Portland early Tomorrow for WLS

I am pleased to tell you that I am leaving first thing in the morning to head up to Portland.  My oldest daughter Kesch is going with me.  I volunteered as part of two of the research projects that are going on up at OHSU, and so there will be two labs tomorrow that are going to run tests on me.  I am fasting tonight for the labs, then tomorrow afternoon I can eat again...but I am trying to be careful of what I eat, because my WLS is the very next day (the 23rd). I am excited, anxious (but not like I was last week), and am trying to keep my stress level down by doing some breathing techniques.  It seems to be working for me. I think I have everything in order.  My house is cleaned, the laundry is done, the sheets are clean and the fridge and cupboards are stocked with the kinds of liquids that I will need after surgery.  My daughter will pick up disposeable baby spoons this week for me, but I got the little white dishes, special 4 and 8 oz glasses with the ounces marked on the sides of them, the blender is clean, I got some extra large wipes, and a long handled brush, my night gowns are clean, and so is my loose fitting dress. I've given my youngest daughter, who is coming up on Wednesday to stay the week in the hospital with me, the list of important phone calls (including yours Kim) to make after the surgery.  I opted to use the hospital slippers they give you, because I couldn't find any slippers that would fit my feet, besides that I love to be barefoot at home, so I don't wear slippers. I'm set to go!  I wished it were closer to 10:00 so I could go to bed, because I know if I went now I would be up again in the morning around 3 am!  LOL....so - just passing time here on OH! See you all on the losers bench!!!

Gayla,  I was going to send you a note tomorrow, wishing you great success and an easy surgery and recovery but SILLY ME, I forgot you had to travel and would leave tomorrow.  Won't be long now before you will be on the losers bench with the rest of us.  Sounds like you have everything taken care of, so don't worry.  I wish you luck and my prayers are with you.  Here is an angel for you to take.   :angel:  Maybe this type of forum won't show the angel.  We will see.  I am sure Kim will let us know how you are doing.  Hope to see you at the get together on the 3rd.  Julia

Thank you so much Julia - your kind words are very much appreciated!  I am ready for this...I'm feeling positive and happy and excited!  I'm looking forward to this new journey...so, hopefully, I will get to meet you in person at the next support group!

Your day is almost here !!!!  Whoo-Hoo!  I am so excited for you, Gayla.  You are going to do so great and the weight will just be melting off here shortly.   As soon as your daughter lets me know how you are doing, I will be sure to post and let everyone know the good news!!!  Our latest loser to be!!!!!

Thank you so much Ladies!  I can't wait!!!  I slept  most of the night...but am looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight in a motel!  It will be like a girls slumber party with me and both of our girls tonight...we always have fun together, so I am sure tonight will be no different.  See you soon, on the losers bench!!!  YEAH!!!!
