Oregon Coast Support
Hi, My name is Becky and I have lived in Oregon for 18 months. In that 18 months I have GAINED 70pounds of the 170 I had lost...I had surgery in June 2003...There are no support groups that I have found on the Oregon Coast. I have found them in Portland and Salem but that is too far. I moved to Oregon from Utah where I was a certified support leader with Bariatric Support Centers International. I would love to start a support group on the Oregon Coast! If you or anyone you know lives in the Tillamook/Seaside area please contact me. My personal email address is [email protected]. I could really use the support and I'm a great supporter.

Thanks for the responses so far... McMinnville is farther than I want to travel especially that time of night. I am always glad to support anyone by email, phone or however I can. As far as Newport, you are about 95 miles from me, and Tillamook is about 70 miles from you. If I can get enough people to make it worthwhile for enough people I would be willing to go as far as Lincoln City. Keep in contact with me - let me know if you know more people that need the support. I gave my personal email in my first note, get the emails flowing and I will get the groups set up with a place for them to take place.

My husband just had WLS too and so there would be two of us in Newport. I know there is at least one other person in Newport as well. Lincoln City would be viable for us. Maybe we should make a separate post w/ Lincoln City Support Group as the title and see how many people respond to it. Just an idea. I would be happy to help organize but I am not a good meeting leader.

Hi Everyone,
I'm really excited about the responses that I have gotten so far...it is very encouraging. Perhaps all of you could get the word out to your doctors offices so that they could inform patients about what we are attempting to do. If you give me doctor's names and phone numbers, I can make the calls, I just don't know the doctors here in Oregon to even find them.
Thanks and let's rev this up and get it going
Becky
