Im scared of gaining my weight back.
I have been out of surgery for over 4 years and I have been able to eat about anything I wanted to a point. I had a dr. appointment today and I have gained 11 lbs in the past 7 months. REALLY NOT O.K. WITH THAT. i hoestly think that if I gained my weight back after knowing how wonderful it is to be thin I would not want to be on this earth. YES I do have an appointment with my councler lol. but seriously I didnt enjoy life when I was heavy and dont want to go back to that. Im not saying everyones like me or even feels the same way its just how I feel. Im so scared and the doc said this is why he doesnt believe in the gasric bypass because he sees this all the time. Iv lost over 130lbs and I dont want it back. If ANYONE has any ideas that they think might help please post them. I know why im gaining weight its the sweets and I need cut them out but evertime I do I feel like I have low blood sugar so i eat the sugar then I feel fine. Please help. Im begging
I'm still pre-op but I know how you feel. I've been thin and obese as an adult (though I was a thin as a younger adult). Thin by far feels much better!!
You know what you need to do, stop the bad carbs. If you are having low blood sugar, see your PCP (though I'd probably get a new one that is WLS-friendly, what an ignorant comment) and let them help you fix that. Those damn sweets are lieing to you! They say they are helping you with your low blood sugar, when all they are doing is putting back on the pounds. Don't fall for it. Sweets/bad carbs aren't your friends, no matter how much they pretend to be. Go to your Doc to get help with the low blood sugar, or talk to a bariatric NUT for help. ((((HUGS)))))
I know you didn't want to see the weight go up, but it is often seen for WLS patients to regain an average 10% of their loss within the first 5 years. To fight that though, eat your protein first and lots of it. Limit carbs to good carbs. Make sure you are drinking your 64oz of water and exercise. Basically back to basics.
I fear this very same thing, once I reach goal, so I've been reading post after post after post finding out as much as I can to prepare myself. Good Luck! ((((HUGS))))
I think you do understand how Im feeling. I dont want to gain my weight and I think no one understands that I do know what I need to do I just dont want to. ( I am laying on the floor kicking and screaming right know LOL) I am a recovering addict also I ve been clean for years and I know I can kick this habit sugar just tastes soooooooo good. Thanks for the advice. ((((HUGS TO YOU TOO))))
You need to go and see a nutritionist again. Sugar is addicting. Yes, you will have some withdrawal symptoms when you try to stop, but after about three days they will cease. There are ways to raise your blood sugar without eating junk. Try an apple or an orange. If you've been able to eat whatever you wanted, I think you need to re-think that now. Obviously, you need to get yourself on a healthy diet and stay there.

Angela, I agree with everyone. Stop the sugar and the weight gain now while it is minimal, and prove your opinionated physician wrong! We are all here to help you do that. I know it is not easy to stop the sugar, but as Linda said, try something besides the simple sugars. Eat protein--nuts are good when you feel like your sugar is low. Maybe you could benefit from seeing an endocrinologist who would be the expert on low blood sugars. If you live any where near Roseburg, there is one here who is great and has had quite a bit of experience with WLS patients when she was in Cincinati. Julia
